Many people have asked me to clarify how I choose the accessories that I put with these simple wardrobes; I will try to explain my thought process.  And some of you have expressed a desire to see these wardrobes with fewer shoes - thinking that these little vignettes would make great packing templates...The accessories I've chosen are:

Accessories for a very simple summer wardrobe

Many people felt that my very simple summer wardrobes were just too plain, but the wardrobes as they were shown were never going to be the final  product.  With a few accent pieces of clothing (which count as accessories in my world), some shoes, scarves, and jewelry, the look of the clothes can change quite a bit...

Packing: Camel, grey, & scarves

I get a LOT of questions about what to wear with specific scarves.  It's really easy to walk into a store (not necessarily Hermes!), fall into temporary insanity over a scarf, and take it home...  where it languishes unworn and unloved.  These kinds of questions are among my favorites; I'm a long-time believer that nothing can elevate the look of simple clothes like some "silk jewelry."   And I'm growing very infatuated with camel & grey...

Packing: Peach scarves and delicious tee shirts

Sometimes, knowing that you want to take your favorite scarf, and two absolutely LOVELY tee shirts is everything you need to get started...   And we all understand that these ideas extend beyond packing, right?  This might be a great shopping strategy for adding a couple of essential pieces to one's wardrobe, in order to get maximum mileage from a beautiful scarf.

Sigh... L.L.Bean clothing is NOT frumpy.  It can be frumpy, but so can clothing from 3.1 Phillip Lim. Frumpy is the person, and the way things are worn, not the garments themselves.  Some accessories, some attitude, some good posture, and these clothes will look as chic as anything that costs 10 times as much.  Make your own style! UPDATE:  I welcome all comments.  You don't have to love what I do - it would be impossible for me to create web posts that everybody loved.  But everybody IS welcome to come by here, share their opinion, read the opinions of others, have a laugh or two, pick up something to think about, and stop back another day for a post that might be more to their taste.  As long as ... Pretty much 45 seconds after I posted the 13 = 81 summer wardrobe, in which you can literally wear whatever's clean, and it will still go together, I got suggestions.  Dozens of suggestions..."This is wonderful, but I can't ever let me knees be seen in public!!!"

Spring 2013 Accent: “Tender Shoots” in the office

February 21, 2013   Some of these garments just hint at the presence of "tender shoots"...  

 

 

   With that, I have exhausted both my ability to work with neon green, and the Pantone Spring 2013 colors.  And since one of my WONDERFUL readers found the link for the Fall 2013 colors, it begs a question - when should I start looking at the Fall/Winter colors?  As soon as the fall clothes are in the stores, in July?  Chime in with a suggestion!

Capsule Wardrobe Spring 2013 Accent: “Tender Shoots” & A Common Wardrobe

I've taken a different approach here, which I think might be an effective way to wear a color that you really LOVE, (or that you have to wear for purposes of work or social solidarity - think favorite sports team) but that isn't terribly flattering to you.  (if you look good in the color, live it up; you're an uncommon beauty!) 

Basically, I've concentrated the color in a pair of shoes, and a bracelet - two items that aren't going to have any opportunity to flatter or detract from your face, unless you're a contortionist.  Then a couple of prints or patterns that include moderate doses of the color in question, but which will bring the shoes and/or bracelet into your outfit with a ...
