This week was a combination of LOTS of time working, going out for coffee, accompanying someone to a doctor appointment, and attending a baseball game!
So much fun!

Cubs or Sox? If it was the Sox, you may have been lucky to see them beat my Royals! But I won’t hold it against you . . .
SewLibrarian says
The Cubs were in Houston, losing all 3 games. :(

We went to the White Sox – the food is better!

Indeed – a no hitter through 6! We needed to leave a bit early, to get home to my mom, and we were really worried that we were going to walk out of a complete game no-hitter! Ah, the dilemmas of the baseball fan…

Janice

If Alex Mill ever has those tweed pants again I must jump all over them! Yesterday I put away my beloved cords, and also all of my black. I think it just sat in my closet all year as I’m switching to navy, but didn’t ever remove the black from the closet – safety blanket.. I’ll see if I drag any of it back in before I actually donate it. And I could see keeping some of it – like the black velvet pants and cashmere sweater – which is one of my warmest sweaters….Looks like spring has finally arrived here in the PNW even if this coming week is looking cooler than our record breaking warm spell last week. The garden is just all kinds of green and my roses have buds.
Janice says
The tweed pants are wonderful – those, and the tipped cardigan, with a black wool tee shirt, would be the outfit that I would save if someone (someone EVIL…) forced me to whittle down my wardrobe to 1 outfit! I’d be in real trouble in the summer, but in cold weather I would be a happy princess!

Janice

Is it finally going to get cooler? I haven’t checked, but I am ready for our cool PNW weather again! :) Janice I love the pops of purple here! Are you still doing some purple in your hair too? My 15 year old (birthday today!) got some blue cool aid to try dying the tips of her hair (that is past her bum!). We’ll see how it goes!

I transitioned from black to navy a couple of years ago. Now the hard part is not to buy more black because it’s: easy to find, I think I might dress up one day, it looks good when Eileen Fisher does it, and on and on… lol. Must maintain Discipline!

It’s mid-May, where are the fresh, vibrant colors of the season?
Postings have been a bit drab and dull. Are you in a funk?
Janice says
Nope! I never wear many bright colors; 90% of the time, at least, I wear black. When you spend a lot of time working with colors, and matching things, and looking for elusive shades of things, you don’t WANT to wear anything but black! Maybe it’s a city thing…

Janice

When I lived in NY and NJ I almost always wore black. I found it depressing after awhile for me personally. I agree it may be a more metropolitan thing – although not so much in Seattle! I’m thinking maybe the northeast?
Ruby says
Sometimes I’m surprised you can even wear your jewelry because your skin must be so thick, I say jokingly. C’mon people, be nice or go home.

I find it interesting, in these Sunday posts, to see how Janice works her own wardrobe during a week. I like the style. For vibrant colors of the season, I drop in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday… Just sayin

I always appreciate the kindness and tact, not to mention forbearance, that Janice employs on her blog. She spends a lot of time taking care of the tastes and desires of her readers, and once in a while elaborates on her own. And it’s fun to see what you wear, Janice! I am having tremendous fun exploring The Archives, full of the many, many colors and combinations you’ve put together over the years! Thank you immensely!

Amen to that :)

While I personally detest black, I enjoy seeing and learning from Janice’s WOW posts. Mentally, I try to sub in colours that I would wear. So thank you for sharing with us.

I have tried banning black from the closet. So far I can say I banned a really black black next to my face like a black velvet jacket. Black velvet pants stayed. They are warm and comfortable and Full Length, so get worn all winter. Blacks are hard to break. Navy’s and greys clash with each other more, making them harder to build a wardrobe around them. Black becomes a dark neutral in August when I’m tired of color and in January/February when tired of holidays. It does get packed for trips to big cities.
