I love the accents in this painting…
Here’s a reminder of the 16-piece capsule wardrobe that our heroine has chosen for the upcoming Spring and Summer:
Let’s walk through a bunch of her favorite outfits, to see how she might accessorize each:
These wee stud earrings are available in 12 different stones – all of the birthstones!
This is our heroine’s only scarf, but WHAT a scarf!
I love the subtle coordination of a “denim-colored” bag:
Those of us who own a Longchamp tote bag can vouch that they’re SO useful!
Would you get a green pedicure? Or would that be overkill?
A simple beige outfit takes on a bit of shine with some jewelry!
This heroine seems to really like hoop earrings! Why not make the things that you like a personal signature?
Shorts don’t have to be so casual that you neglect to accessorize:
Many of us now wear more than 2 earrings at a time (I personally wear 4 – 3 on the left, 1 on the right…). Why not buy earrings 6 at a time? Especially when they all look so perfect together?
These are her accessories:
Wouldn’t it be lovely to have all of this stashed in the closet of some cabin somewhere for the summer? Sign me up!
love,
Janice
p.s. Seven years ago, we built a wardrobe 1 piece at a time – black, white, turquoise and coral!

WOW, after not particularly liking this wardrobe in the beginning, the accents really do make all the difference. Personally, I like the individual pieces and outfits much better than seeing them all together for some reason. Love the navy and white. Happy Friday everyone

I have the same reaction, Sheila! Maybe this is an example of how an appealing wardrobe is not the same as appealing outfits – and really, it’s the ability to create appealing outfits we should be focusing on for the most part. For me, that print scarf alone is so perfect here that it’s sold me on the whole thing! Once again, well-chosen accessories to the rescue.

Great accessories. Nice selection of footwear for warm weather. And only one scarf is also a reasonable number for warm weather. Love the earrings, although I don’t wear hoops. It all really makes a change to the basic wardrobe of beige.

As usual the accents really pull everything together. I love it!

I know a couple of people who wear green nail varnish.
Personally, I would add in a few coloured pendant necklaces and rings. I rarely wear earrings. Yesterday, my accessories were limited to a bracelet, a ring and a scarf. I reasoned that the floral neckline of my t-shirt was decorative enough so no need for a necklace. I wore the scarf when we sat outside. Though it was sunny, it was still cool when the sun went behind a cloud.
I don’t regard footwear as accessories. Perhaps it’s because I wear a limited range of colours – white, grey/silver, taupe/beige, navy, and black. Shoes for people with problem feet rarely come in a multitude of colours or styles. The exceptions for me are pale blue and purple DM type boots and burgundy suede ankle boots. These are only best worn in cool weather with trousers. I’m not into wearing DMs with summer dresses. Sandals have a bit more variety and I have pink and purple variations.

Big fan of August Macke’s and glad to see he has made this series. He died in World War I. Such a loss.
These colours are lovely together; the green scarf is a particular joy.

I bought the Anthropologie birthstone earring set, very pretty but…they’re quite small. And…they’re made in China (that may not be of interest to some but had I known, I would’ve resisted the purchase or sourced local produced).

Accessories elevate a basic outfit. For spring, I love my basic navy trench from Monoprix, and which I’ve had for many seasons, plus Levi jeans and Benetton navy sweater paired with burgundy bag, scarf and gloves one day and the next with green scarf, navy bag, navy gloves, and the next with grey converse, grey scarf and grey bag. It’s cheaper for me and far more mileage from basics that otherwise I might get bored of.
