It was a beautiful sunrise…
The colors that they saw were subtle but stunning…
They turned to each other and agreed that if they saw ONE MORE sunrise over snow, they were going to lose their minds.
They don’t want to go to the beach, just someplace where it’s warm enough not to wear boots and a parka!
It’s a romantic long weekend – a bit early for Valentine’s Day, but they are NOT people to be bound by that kind of thing!
Museums, some shopping, some nice but not posh dining. Maybe a movie…
Mostly, just time together. A chance to see their ankles on a regular basis. No hats!
Are you ready for a break from winter?
I – personally – would LOVE to see some real snow. Why in the world bother with below-freezing temperatures if you don’t get SNOW!!!
love,
Janice
p.s. The very first January 16th post I ever did – eleven years ago! – was to introduce you to the “word cloud.” They are still interesting and useful…

Vivienne,
Long time fan here. Would it be possible to put the link to the store on the clothing item? In most cases depending on the format you are using, that link should be possible on the clothing item. The process of purchasing the clothing item would be smoother for the reader/user.

Love this one. Pink and tan are not a usual match for me so I can stretch my thinking and have more outfits with what I already have. Thanks

Sorry – I just can’t get excited over this particular collection. Or it could be because I’ve been up all night w/the dog – who is afraid of the wind. The bracelet is really beautiful though. Off topic, Saturday an old post of yours popped up on my pinterest home page. “When Image Consultants Collide” from May 30, 2011. I read it with interest as I was told when I was in my late 20’s that I was a winter, and then in my 40’s an AUTUMN and now with the salt and pepper hair I find I’m gravitating more towards the winter colors again. Do I want to go in for another analysis? No I do not. Perhaps that’s why I am drawn to the Renoir painting you are using as the focus for one of your wardrobes this year – it uses both warm and cool neutrals. Have a lovely day ladies. PS – regarding winter – not tired of winter, tired of it being dark so many hours of the day though

I think the autumn-to-winter slide is pretty typical — I’ve been an obvious Deep Autumn until I hit my fifties. Once the gray spread beyond one streak at the front of my hair, I started to like gray near my face, which I hadn’t before. In the last year, I’ve started wearing royal blue (which always made me look yellow), to many compliments. I can tell my skin-tone is cooling, because the foundation that was once invisible on my skin now looks like a yellow highlighter.

This is a most beautiful post. Beauty is sometimes unrecognizable to others. This is a beautiful selection of colors, especially using butterscotch and pink quartz. Thank you so much, Janice. Beautiful as always. 💫💖✨

Today’s wardrobe palette is very pretty; I especially like the skirt and the blue blouse.
Janice, that sandy wheat colour in the “in transit” outfit drew my eye so I checked the colour names below your collage. The companies gave each of those pieces a different colour name! I instantly imagined/ wondered if you keep a running list of colour name variations to help you in your searches. If so, it must be a very long list!
I love wearing unexpected colours in the winter. I’m in Eastern Canada and we’ve been getting several back-to-back snowstorms lately (with another one in progress now). That said, I cannot stomach wearing a steady stream of just my dark neutral; thank goodness for accent colours!

The lovely flower earrings come in several other colors for those of you seeking something brighter. The “love birds” belt is a brilliant touch.
I know lots of people who would look exquisite in this soft, romantic capsule.

I am not sick of winter yet. We just got a fresh dump of snow and it is beautiful. I don’t do winter sports, but it just looks like a wonderland out there, so I appreciate it. I am wearing all my most colourful items when I go out, including a big yellow coat. It helps take the edge off the cold. Having said that, I wouldn’t mind going away either.

I’m still waiting for winter……. Not sure we’ll have one this year. Well, we had one week of freezing temperatures around Christmas, but that’s long gone. Every day in January has been upper60s to mid 80s. A lovely capsule. The pale colors are not really suitable for, but I love clicking on the links and finding other color ways that are. I enjoy your blog so much!

You must be from TX as well. I would really enjoy some more cool temps!!!

Wait! I seem to remember you hating on ruffles in an old post. Have you changed your mind?
Janice says
Yep – I’m trying to be less judgmental about things that other women like. Since this is a romantic weekend, I thought ruffles might be fun for our heroine!
big hugs,
Janice

I typically find ruffles overly sweet/feminine for my own style, but I admit that I think the blue ruffled shirt would work nicely with menswear-inspired items or edgier pieces for a juxtaposition.
I am not yet tired of the cold/snow, which is good because we have a lot of winter left! (We had actual rain yesterday and the Mississippi River partially melted…so unusual. But the coldest part of winter is yet to come.)

Nice. I don’t love these particular blouses, but I was pleasantly surprised to see some clothes that are less straight-up-and-down than usual.
Marie says
So lovely. I keep thinking, this THIS is my favorite! Until the next lovely collection appears. I’ve a slew of posts bookmarked, and many have pink in them. The world is telling me to work with pink more!
Danielle says
Sally, yeah I can see the blue one. The pink blouse, though, reminds me of something out of Sister Wives.

Janice,
Could you do a few Start with a Scarf posts on the Lost Pattern twilly scarf. This would be good to give us another Blush pink with a butterscotch and neutral wardrobe idea. More leather accessories would also be greatly appreciated. Sorry, I am a few days late with this request. I’ve been thinking about how to do your post for several days, now.

P.S.
Radley of London would be a great brand for this. Just a thought.
Thank you.

I think we’re kindred winter spirits, Janice. ; )
