I kept thinking that I would hold this post for a few days, until we actually HAVE snow in Chicago. I’ve surrendered…
But I must mention – this was DIFFICULT, because lots and lots of stores are running out of things. I have a policy on The Vivienne Files that I won’t show any item unless it’s available in a full range of sizes; right now, that makes finding the clothes I want to share with you hard to find.
So be warned that if you love something, grab it pretty quickly or be prepared to be disappointed!
What about some outfits that you can wear to work, or to something festive, and fit in without wearing Santa earrings or an ugly sweater:
Maybe you want to wear pastels this winter!
This photograph reminds me of my childhood, in an exaggerated way…
These pants are the same design as the black and white tweed ones from a couple of weeks ago. They are wonderful! And I have this scarf in shades of purple – it’s gorgeous… Sigh…
There’s no rule that says you have to wear red and green to holiday parties:
I love winter…
Maybe you want to be the person wearing soft, muted colors this holiday season…
I could be madly tempted by this outfit – a simple black column, brightened up in a big way!
If you are an Instagram person, make sure you’re following Alexy Kljatov – the snowflake photograph genius…
Are you ready for the upcoming festivities? I should be fine – I suspect that all of our partying will be done here at home with the 3 of us…
love,
Janice
p.s. It wasn’t exactly 4 years ago that I was returning home from Paris…

Such beautiful and cozy outfits; I love the range of colour options.
I had no idea that tights could be fleece-lined – trust Janice to hunt them down for us!

I would love a pair of those tights! But I have a problem with the sizing: I can’t see how a 6 feet woman weighing 170 lbs and a 4’11 woman weighing 240 lbs can wear the same size. Is it just me trying to picture this? Tights are always too tight for me and then the legs are baggy (and I’m not that short)

I love all the red shoes! Maybe those moccasins are what I need to perk up my Christmas morning outfit!

We are experiencing Arctic weather in the UK – lots of frost. I’m wearing pastel colours again this winter and getting lots of compliments.

Love those snowflake photos! Thought you’d want to know the link to the navy Alex Mill pants goes to the Alex Mill cardigan. Have a great weekend, Janice!

I tried to fix that link – I’m not sure it will stick! I don’t know how those hyperlinks are created, and so I don’t really know what to do when they refuse to cooperate…
Happy Friday, eh?
love,
Janice

Writing from Japan. Turning cooler here. I’m just south of Tokyo on the southern coast, so no snow and the surfers are still out, hahaha. I recently acquired the red LandsEnd tee and for the first time had some bleeding during the prewash. So glad I put in a color catcher, just in case. I usually have great luck with Lands End tees being colorfast— so this was a surprise. Still love their Pima tees and mock necks (Talbots is another good source of Pima tees that never disappoints). Thanks for the color coordinating Janice! Great set of coordinates this time!

Beautiful outfits, as usual. I agree about the range of color options. Hard pressed to find a favorite, but I think I would choose the bright red and black. Today is ugly sweater day at school. I’ve got my red “Fragile” sweatshirt – from the movie “A Christmas Story” all laid out and ready to go!

All the outfits are great. The one that I absolutely love is the black column with the color block sweater!

While these are all lovely, the colorblock cardigan with the black is absolutely my favorite! I would wear it with leopard/cheetah print shoes and would be tempted to add a print scarf, though I might just go with solid red instead.
I liked seeing the colorful (red) shoes in these outfits! The ivory skirt + ivory tights + gold loafers is an interesting combination. I bought a pair of ivory sweater tights a couple years ago, but (and this is just idiosyncratic) I don’t love wearing them, I think because they make me look/feel childish somehow. And I’m pretty sure it’s the color, not the texture, that gives me that vibe. While it sacrifices the elongated quality of matching tights to skirt, I would readily wear that outfit with light grey tights/boots. I tend to wear matching tights/boots in a non-white/ivory neutral with my white skirt in cold seasons.

Just got promotional email from Echo Scarves – introducing items with Pantone’s color of year Viva Magenta – FYI

I thought we were going to do the colors in that picture! Black, dark green, icy blue, and a bit of cerulean. Would be lovely!

Agree! Those red shoes rock. I can’t figure out a favorite and I don’t *need* three pairs of loafers. Lol. I don’t even need one pair. (Sighs and puts down the tablet.)

Allison thanks for the laugh!!!
