This is where she’s going, more or less…
1/4 Mile off the blacktop road…
You know when these are the directions, you’re going to be off the beaten track!
And that’s what she needs – she has writers’ block…
Normally, she would go sit in a café and people-watch, but this time she’s going to look inside for inspiration, rather than outside.
She’s only going for a couple of days. She’s got enough coffee and food for breakfast, and maybe lunch. She WILL go into town for dinner…
But she will have no internet connection. No Wi-Fi, no streaming video, no texting… the cabin has a landline, and a television that gets 3 network channels.
Quiet, dark, and trees…
She’s a bit nervous, and quite a bit excited. As one should be at the beginning of any trip, no matter now brief!
love,
Janice
p.s. Six years ago, our art-inspired wardrobe included lots of camel, accented with rose, ivory, and teal!

Oh my goodness, this get-away wardrobe is so beautiful. This is definitely a post I will reread many times. The colours, and cosiness of materials are exactly what I love and so many outfit options. I think it’s amazing how you continue to surprise with the variety of your posts. Thank you!

Well said! I agree completely.

I love this. Could sub things in my closet to make this up easily. And I agree with Natasha about the variety of your posts – beautiful painting. Soft and cozy rules the day with me recently. Thank you!

PS Not sure I’m going to thank you for introducing me to Alex Mill – perused their website yesterday! The sweaters w/the matching vests are too cute!

Beautiful art inspiration & colors! I have to tease you a bit about 1/4 mile off the blacktop being off the beaten path, but then I don’t live in an urban area. Great post as usual!
Janice says
If you could see where I grew up, you would understand that I KNOW “off the beaten path!” But our heroine isn’t quite so adventurous…

There is something very restful about being in shady woods. My favourite pictures are paths through woods which invite you to go on an adventure. The beech and oak woods near us are beautiful at the moment in their autumn colours. My take on the look back is taupe/brown with teal or rose pink so spot on!

Love the impressionists. Thanks for your wonderful posts.

Love that L.L. Bean robe! I bought one for my mom for Christmas. It reminds me of the kind that she used to wear when I was a kid, but it is surprisingly hard to find these days.
Coach Laura says
I have that exact robe in that exact color. I wanted a different color but my hubby dropped the ball and it was sold out by then. But it is a great robe and it is very cozy. I usually wear it over a t-shirt and my loose pants in the morning when I’m too lazy to get dressed yet.

I am with Sheila on the introduction to the Alex Mills website. Love the cords jackets and trousers. I cannot think of an equivalent website here in Scotland. Does anyone have any suggestions? Not too expensive please.
Kristi says
Even though these are not usually my colors, I would pack them up and wear them in a heartbeat! Thanks for the lovely post. :) And I agree… Alex Mills website has got some great pieces. Using them for sewing inspiration! And the lookback is perfect. I am struggling with the warm/cool thing right now in my colors. I am cool for sure, but I love the look of cognac leather… how to mix the two. I’m getting there.

The perfection of the check/patchwork scarf in bringing these colors together cannot be overstated. Brilliant find!

Gorgeous! Morisot reminds me of the Pacific Northwest rainforest. Perfect capsule for a cabin getaway in that area. Add a good rainproof jacket with a hood so the rain doesn’t trickle down the neck and she’s set.

I live in the PNW and I thought the same thing! :)

The address on my first driver’s license read “1/4 mile up Forward Road.” We got one station on TV, which was initially NBC affiliated and then switched to ABC. I had to start watching all new soap operas! On our 3-party phone line, local calls were automatically disconnected after seven minutes. ❤️

I would love to go on a little trip like this. The clothes, too, are so cozy looking. I think they might work well for someone with Soft Autumn coloring. I hope she took lots of snacks. And hot chocolate.
