What HAVE I been doing for the last 4 days? Living my normal life: working on The Vivienne Files, seeing friends when I have a chance, watching the World Series, taking care of things at home.
You know, LIFE!

I’m impressed with your fortitude in being nearly three quarters done with the challenge. Also wanted to ask, since your style posts for the challenge frequently show scarves, how big is your scarf collection and what do you believe to be a good number of scarves to have in total as well as in a seasonal rotation? Thanks.

I also have a question about scarves. How do you store yours so you can see and access them easily? And what are your favorite ways to tie square ones?
Janice says
I frankly can’t see them all. I have many of them in an Elfa shelving unit drawer (air circulation around them!) but once I have 2 or 3 layers, I can’t see the ones on bottom. If I had a big closet, I would drape them carefully over the crossbar of hangers and hang them all, but I do NOT have that kind of space in this apartment!
Square scarves? Bias fold and tuck the ends into a scarf ring (yes, a scarf ring!) or tie into a square knot. Or fold it into a triangle and tie it in the back like a cowboy style…

Janice

I’m excited that you’re bringing out the scarves. They’re beautiful and they are my favorite accessory. But I can see some bling possibilities for dressier events. The holidays are approaching.
Are your friends noticing that you’re wearing the same dress?
Can it be belted?
I’m circling the Wool& website searching for the fit and color from which I would get the maximum use.
Janice says
My friends have noticed, because I talk about it on Instagram and here all the time. But only 1 of my acquaintances here in our building has noticed…
Yes, my dress could be belted, if I had a waist. My only regret is that this dress flairs a bit more than I might have wanted, to wear with longer sweaters. I get some bunching up under a sweater that falls below my hips.
Such a privileged problem, isn’t it?

Janice

Very interesting re the storage. I’ve committed to buying scarves – up to 3 per season if I love the pattern. You have me convinced that they really are good to have. However, I wish that you could tweak your pieces of clothing formula for each type of accesory. I now own about 12 scarves and would love to know what might be the right number to have. Thank you!
Janice says
There are no right numbers – I have at least 60 scarves, a dozen bracelets, 20 pairs of earrings… But only 4 or 5 handbags. Everybody will differ; the question is if you love what you have, and will wear everything at least occasionally. No rules!

Janice

Bear in mind a scarf always fits 😉 I live in a hot humid climate so almost never wear a scarf at home, but probably have at least twelve now for travelling to colder or modest places. Easy to store and pack and punch above their weight if well chosen.
