I’ve mentioned them before – the pants that I wear EVERY week, that are always in my laundry, are from redthreadcollection.com. (I have both the Essential Ankle Pants and the Essential Straight Leg Pants…)
The process is really simple and sort of fun – you take a couple of photographs of yourself dressed in something tight (like leggings or tights) and THEY figure out how to make pants to fit you. They eschew all discussion of sizes, which I can definitely support…
And right now, you can get 20% off of your purchase from them by using the code Vivienne20!
Nice people, great pants, and now a discount – how good can life get?
Someone recently commented that they really loved a scarf but that it was very expensive – BOY that’s not hard to do! My 2 favorite brands could easily double as mortgage payments…
So I set out to find us some fun updates for warmer weather that will NOT cost us the moon and the stars!
Speaking of stars:
Are you in the mood for some pretty flowers?
Maybe pearls and gold and an ivory tee shirt…
If you’re torn between green and a lovely cantaloupe orange, this scarf is for you!
If you love brown, and want to add a pretty accent color, consider peach!
I’m always going to be looking for something pink!
If your favorite neutrals are navy or grey, take a look at this scarf…
Nothing says spring like green. I stand by that statement forever!
Maybe you want to bring print to your navy wardrobe:
And maybe you’re interested in bringing a warm accent into your wardrobe – this is a pretty good candidate!
I’m still getting used to having brown things in my wardrobe! But I did find my new loafers – you can see them here…
love,
Janice
p.s. Seven years ago, I based a wardrobe on a painting by Edouard Manet. We were talking about job interviews… (yish…)

I’m still trying to get brown things in my closet – I want a decent pair of trousers with matching top and layer. I live in the UK though, so some of the brown options I’ve seen here are not feasible as I need to try on the trousers before buying.I
It’s a good think that I am a) in the UK and b) not in the market for new accent clothes, otherwise I might have ended going out and getting the rose, peach, pink and green tops. Pity there isn’t a cool/cocoa brown top here. I definitely would have gone after that one.

I have loads of scarves and have to rotate them as I only have one large drawer to store them in. Perhaps I will count them one day. I don’t need anymore but I do look out for scarves that bring together favourite colour combinations. So I would like to find a scarf that combines warm pinks with blue-grey/ocean blue/blue teal. Another would be green teal and burgundy/plum. I have too many accent tees too. 😄

Love the brown tee and paisley-esque scarf! They might just have to come home with me…
I love your loafers. I’m eyeing a similar pair to take on a trip in early June! I’d love to try before I buy.

I love your loafers. I can see you getting real mileage from them, literally and figuratively.

The Talbots bracelet calls to me. It’s so classic, Talbots is reliable that way. Happy Wednesday to you, Janice, and to all my fellow TVF fans.

What a fun post today! Thank you for all the budget-friendly options. Showing me a quick “fab 5” was so helpful as I can grab some accent colors together and ease into a fresh spring morning.

I’ve just recieved my Lands End UK catalogue. They have some lovely linen trousers, skirts, tops, shirts and blazers which would look great with these tee-shirts and accessories.

Thanks for the heads up, Beth T.

Would you mind sharing your other brown pieces? I’m drawn to it but my complexion is similar to yours and I find it difficult not to look sickly in them.

I, too am curious. Very. Nice shoes btw. I am impressed with these scarves. Who would have thought? I guess the one I bought wasn’t such a rarity.

I’ll be interested in seeing your experience with Uniqlo linen. I’ve had some I loved and some that was like cardboard. And I’ve been away and not heard about your foray into brown! – nancyo

Thank you for sharing! I want to experiment with linen to keep cool while wearing longer sleeves and pants in the summer so this is perfect.

I love, love, love shopping for new season accents in exactly the way they are organized here! I’m choosing my accent colors for my summer wardrobe and have (because of today’s post) decided on saddle brown and shades of blue. The scarf with the saddle brown tee proves how beautifully browns and blues can work together. My neutrals are white, navy and denim/chambray so these accents will work perfectly. So excited to pull together the pieces for my summer capsule. Thanks a million for the inspiration!
Another great day to head over to https://www.buymeacoffee.com/viviennefiles to help support my favorite blogger. 🙂

You are so kind – I just fixed their settings… sigh…

I loved the scarves you picked for pearls and navy!! I also loved much of the jewelry!! I grew up in the South and wore scarves a great deal!! I mean that was me!!! I have a great selection!! Some from my mother!! Now, after living in the West for over 25 years I find I haven’t really been wearing them!! It’s just so darn hot here!! But not humid!! So, what was my solution?!! I bought a long lightweight gorgeous scarf to wear this summer!!! Pray this works for me!! I’ve put myself on a spending freeze for April so I can spend time creating outfits with what I own!! I have so very much!!!

Just realized I have all three of the blue tshirts! Maybe I need a scarf and/or sandals to go with at least one of them?

Thank you for this post! I love the more affordable scarf options. They are more realistic for our budget. Although I have swooned over some Hermes scarves and such… my hubby was not as thrilled with the prices! I am going to keep my eyes open for beautiful scarves at consignment and charity shops!

All of these groupings are fantastic! I can picture any of these with white jeans. But I have to say the navy strappy sandals are calling out to me.
While I tend not to wear scarves in warm weather, layered with a cardigan for spring would look great. Thanks for the inspiration as usual.

Hi Janice! Great colors, and thanks for affordable scarves ☺

Great scarves! I have fun looking on Etsy, lots of vintage silk scarves for $25-$40…in fact, maybe too many… :)

So excited to use the triple top secret for grocery shopping tonight. I hate lugging around a bulky coat that I always want to take off once I’m in the store, but some aisles (frozen foods, I’m looking at you) are too cold. Well tonight I have a long sleeve navy tee, then a navy/red flannel and then a red cardigan. It was a little big to wrestle on, but once in place feels and looks great! Thanks for this tip Janice!
