Corduroy is one of my favorite fabrics – and I have no reason why! I know that some people don’t like the “schwoop, schwoop” sound that your thighs make when you walk in them, but I’m pretty sure nobody else can hear that!
I like the softness of the fabric, and the richness of the colors; corduroy seems to take dye beautifully. But if you just can’t bear the idea, you can always just get a nice pair of winter pants in place of these. Maybe wool – remember wool pants? With LININGS? The ’80s weren’t all bad…

I’m assuming that we’re all in the mood for a simple outfit – pants and a sweater. Toss on a scarf, and some fun shoes, as well as some jewelry, and you’re out the door. Well, not these days; at least around here, we’re all staying home pretty much constantly. But that is NOT an excuse not to look nice, right? Our families deserve this…

If you want to wear your black loafers, and carry your black bag, just wear your scarf that has a black background. Suddenly, everything is balanced!

Warm and stylish. I’m wearing today purple cords, a lavender jumper and an orchid pink coat with a complimentary scarf. I always wear a top and thermals under the jumper for extra warmth.
I love the LL Bean knit cords and have them in almost every color. I like the flat front vs the Land’s End cords that have the elastic gathered all the way around. My go to in the winter is a pair of these cords with a sweater – sometimes a shirt or blouse under the sweater – depending.
I have claret and burgundy chords (the first is a bit redder than the second which is more purple), but what I really want is a pair in a light to medium grey elephant cord like my brother has. I also want a pair of normal cords in a light to medium cool brown, but I’m having a hard time finding a suitable pair in my size. I will have a look at H&M after seeing that one in the post though.
Lately, I have been noticing that the colors I really want are available for men but not women. I am talking about the exact same garment from the same retailer. It seems that if they can make it for men, they could easily make it for women. Frustrating!
I would also like a pair of grey cords….
I must say I really like these WTW posts and find them helpful and instructive. Sometimes, for me, building an entire wardrobe or even capsule is a bit overwhelming. These posts focus on an outfit at a time, and how it can be done several different ways. I always forget where we are in the plan, tho. Short attention span I guess.
Just an FYI, Lands End makes a really nice corduroy legging.
Nice to me means it’s not skintight and is very comfortable. Currently on sale for $22.47 in 4 colors.

I love the idea of a winter scarf with a black background to balance black boots (here in Ontario there will be no shoes worn outside until April – maybe) and a black bag. This is just what I need and I didn’t even know it!
Love the first two outfits based on burgundy and teal (those teal sneakers!). I don’t wear corduroy pants because the sound of them grates on my husband’s ears and I have a habit of randomly rubbing the corduroy fabric, which is not a good combination! Luckily I don’t really need the extra warmth of corduroy and can wear jeans and other pants during the winter.
Land’s End also has some great cotton tunics on sale to pair with their leggings!
I wore my black cords to work today! I love corduroy pants because they look so warm and wintery — but they’re NOT warm, they’re really only good for days that are a little cold. Oh well. I love them anyway! Right now I only have two pair, black and gray. But they’re very versatile. Because corduroy is generally stiff, I need to get curvy fit. That tends to cut down on available colors.
I love cords. In most cities, people seem to go shopping or out to dinner in casual clothing. Cords with a pretty sweater and accessories are so versatile. How about with a blazer and a dressy blouse?
This post has me thinking that I should check my own jewelry to add a bit of interest to my standard “ uniform” of the day.

Cords are my winter uniform, usually with a chunky cashmere sweater. I wear finer needlecord at the beginning of winter and jumbo cords later on. Marks and Spencer do some really good colours every year and I have just discovered Lands End high waisted ones. They come in a really rich black, deep sea navy and for the first time ever I have bought some winter white!
I too would love some silver grey cords.
P.S Am loving the new cashmere colours at lands End. (especially the pink)
