Well… it’s one thing entirely to win an award in the middle of a pandemic, but quite another to be invited into the city for the weekend…
But they offered a hotel room for Friday, Saturday AND Sunday night, if she could come into the recording studio for an hour or so and record a video that they could use when they announced all of the winners. So into the city they go!

Her original plan was to use 2 accent colors, but she struggled and STRUGGLED to find a good “bridge” garment or scarf, so she finally just threw her hands up in the air and decided on a full-tilt pink and black weekend!
Sometimes you have to know when you aren’t going to find the right things (at least in time for your event!), and so you embrace Plan B with happiness…

They’re going straight to the studio on Friday, so she’s wearing her favorite dress for the train ride. It’s made of ponte knit – so it should shed wrinkles!
But the rest of the weekend? Hmm… They will dine – outdoors, of course. They will make their way into at least a couple of museums. And they will walk around town and see what’s changed in the last 7 months…

Since she’s going to be with her sweetheart all weekend, she eschews the typical jeans and sweatshirt ensemble for something MUCH nicer. If anybody deserves something (someone?) beautiful, it’s her sweetheart…
It’s not a big deal to wear an entirely different outfit each day; if one is clean and tidy, variety isn’t really important. She struggles to keep that in mind, so before she closes her suitcase, she rehearses in her mind a range of outfits that she has at her disposal:

Pink and black – perfect wardrobe for the Robin scarf! This is simply elegant.
I love the pink coat – something I have on my dream list. Though it might be a shorter jacket for me because a full length pink coat on a rounded shape makes me look like a pink blob!
However, I’m intrigued to know what colour greens could be used as an alternative wardrobe – olive is too drab, emerald is too bright, pine are too dark and possibly a bit blue. The colour Lincoln Green comes to mind.
I like the look back based on a wardrobe of dresses. Once you have found the styles, patterns and materials that suit your shape, dresses are so simple to wear and versatile. They can be dressed up or down and suit all occasions. However, I only tend to reserve them for special occasions or ‘going out’. So consequently, I have rarely worn a dress all year. Perhaps, I need to review my mindset?
Hi! I know it’s not a slice of the color pie…but perhaps a mint green-? Something that would blend with various hues of pink-?
I would call it bottle green and I think it is a lovely, sophisticated color. I would love to see that color in a wardrobe, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be easy to find.

Honestly am I the only woman left on the planet who is still wearing dresses? I am not going to allow some virus rob me of the pleasure of wearing pretty clothes even though it’s just the two of us living in the middle of nowhere.
oh! and I forgot in my comment below – I wear dresses frequently – even at home. I find them so easy in the summer, and to slip over leggings in the winter. So no, you are not the only woman on the planet still wearing dresses – there are at least two of us!
Dresses over here too, especially with leggings or tights or even skinny jeans in winter.

I wear dresses all the time. Even when working from home earlier in the year, I dressed for work because I wanted to wear something pretty. The bonus was my husband was working from home too and it was lovely to get a compliment on what I was wearing because these are outfits that he never really gets to see me in.
I agree – this would be perfect with Robin Scarf. I’ve been wearing blush pink in the summer, but with the more intense/vivid pink you’ve been featuring, I think maybe I just have to give it a try. I love the bottle green – is that same as admiral green? or maybe admiral green is too blue – more of a dark greenish teal. Either way, I usually grab it when I see it. Thanks for another wonderful story. I also really enjoy reading comments through out the day. Even though I’m coming into work, I maybe see four people? This has become my mini-community!
The green would have been quite nice, but I don’t think our heroine or her sweetheart will be tired of the pink in 3 days. And sticking to one accent color makes putting outfits together a breeze. It was interesting to see the range of pinks included in the wardrobe. I was initially unsure about the softer-seeming tweed skirt until I clicked through the larger photo, and it was clear that it’s actually a quite bright pink also that just looks more muted in the smaller photo.
Her sweetheart smiled to see the heroine packed only 2 scarves for a 3 day trip. It’s almost like she sensed the presence of the surprise gift hidden in the sweetheart’s luggage. The exuberant pink and black robin scarf is just the thing…
I love that you are putting in coordinating masks into your posts. I am imagining that there are several more in the bag, along with the undies and things you never show! :-D
Hi Janice and everyone! With mentions of shades of green for this heroine’s suitcase, maybe she and her sweetheart will extend their stay-? I could see that as a small accent addition, as well as perhaps a wee pop of a shade of Orange (apricot, peach).
You all may be happy to know that I received clothes –with patterns –in the mail today. One is a flannel shirt with large check pattern with subtle colors, and one is a shirt with a windowpane pattern, both which match the dusty olive pants I am wearing. (also received ‘green ash’ tank top, a copper brown bow tie blouse, and a minty green turtleneck sweatshirt) . And everything fit!
I kind of love how the sweetheart remains genderless :)
Love the pink coat and the tweed skirt, though cleaning my closet recently will have me sitting on the sidelines for a while with clothes-shopping. Having a bright coat can make a dreary day a little better. My bright purple trench coat seemed impractical when I got it but makes me happy.
… and you’ll look fabulous amongst a sea of beige trench coats! I’d love to find a purple trench!
The only way my family used to see a me (5ft tall) in a crowd was when I wore a pink or violet trench coat. My husband who’s six foot wears a broad brimmed hat! I can usually spot him several hundred yards away.
Mind you getting lost in a crowd is something we don’t have to worry about at the moment! ?

When you’ve been together for decades, it’s good to be reminded that my choice of outfit not only pleases me but also has the power to please others. From reading earlier comments, I am going to up my game and wear my dresses and skirts even if I’m wearing cosy slippers on my feet! Not that I shall be fishing for compliments….
A while back I bought the Thoughtful Lynx bracelet after looking at it on the Fierce Lynx Designs site. My bracelet is not as brightly colored as the picture that appeared on your site. Mine works well with denim blue or olive, both which I wear quite often. This is the item of jewelry that I have worn most this summer and always enjoy. The bracelet you are featuring today is mighty pretty!
That pink coat is also tempting, probably a good thing that it isn’t shown in my size.

And, J.Crew turtlenecks are great. Here in Canada, you can easily live in your turtlenecks half the year. Therefore, I always look for bright colours to add some cheerful vibes.
