After being indoors for AGES (I’m in my 6th week…), I find that paintings full of “nature” colors really appeal…
Today’s heroine realizes that she’s going to need to move toward some navy, maybe by the time summer rolls in… Her current Weekly Timeless Wardrobe for Spring is lovely beige and green, but she understands that the green is just too difficult to find.
This is her inspiration:
She’s going to indulge in some accent colors, before she starts gradually working on her 3rd neutral…
Here’s where she’s starting:
For so long, she’s been comfortable with muted colors. But now that she’s free to be out and about, she is really in the mood for something bolder and brighter!
After much consideration, this is what she added to her wardrobe for the Spring:
The 2 new sweaters will be useful for most of the year – maybe not scorching summer days, but through the winter, no problem!
She knows that some days she will still wear outfits in her most subdued and muted colors. But she really loves having the option of pulling out bright yellow, or intense rust, to change up her look!
Do you think that anything about your personal style will have changed by the time we’re all back to normal socializing? Or are you finding that solitude makes you ever more attached to your current colors and styles?
I’m still loving my black and pink…
love,
Janice
p.s. SEVEN years ago, I pondered if it was really necessary for EVERY woman to own a pair of khaki pants. They’re on all of the “classic garment” lists, but that doesn’t make them perfect for everyone…

Lovely colors, close to mine!
I think my style will be more “focused” when we get out of this, as I’ll have had time to assess my current wardrobe, accessories included. And I’ll wear whatever the heck I like, because life is meant to be savored.

Love these colors.
I also find myself wearing what I really like instead of what I think I should wear. Which is a lesson in itself.
I am thankful to read these diversions in trying times.

What a lovely art work! Not my colors, but the wardrobe is lovely. I’ve been moving for a couple of years into comfy/casual, which I can wear to work. Narrowing down what really works for me. This post inspired me, think I’m wearing my lemon yellow/chambray blue striped sweater (with something) today. Still a little bored with all my red… hahahahaha Thank you again!

Janice,
While these are “ my” colors, I have taken a slightly different direction in terms of my accent colors to go with olive green and beige. I am wanting a color diversion that feels more of a reflection of what is in bloom right now, and a reminder of sunny days , so the yellow works, but I included more of an “ orange sherbet” instead of the rust . For me, the rust is just an Autumn reminder . If I didn’t feel this way, I’d get a heck of a lot more wear from my rust garments ! The “ orange sherbet” also works with navy, my other Spring neutral . In addition, I have pulled out my soft corals for accent . As I crave variety, I am rotating my neutral choices with the seasons too.

This is really interesting. As mentioned in my post of a few days ago I have a few garments in beige and olive tucked away in the corner of my wardrobe because I didn’t think they went with the majority. They were only bought to go with an olive green quilted Barbour jacket that was gifted and which I was convinced was not my colour. Thanks to Janice I can see they would all blend with my navy items and if I swop the rust with the blush items I already own I have a different look completely. Wow you would have thought…well Janice did of course.

I’m looking forward to you adding in navy or just even a mid to dark tone of blue.
Yellow and rust are way off for me but I would like to have a bit of confidence to try dark grey/green. It might look good with shell pink, coral pink and cameo rose which I wear a lot of. However, I have an original Colour Me Beautiful books which suggests that Summers pair olive with fuschia, periwinkle, and watermelon. Surely they are too bright? I am a Soft Summer so surely muted accents would be better. Confused….
…. and then what colour shoes/boots when most of mine are navy, grey or black? I’ve just bought a pair of ankle boots in a colour described as Smoke which is a sort of taupe.

I still find that the capsule wardrobe works best for travel or if I’m working on call. But this spring, I have introduced a bit of sunshine yellow into my closet. It’s cheerful and the sweater is not very expensive. Since navy and grey are my neutrals, almost anything is possible.

Hi!
I find myself moving away from #slouchwear on the weekends and on days I do not work. I usually now wear layers of a lightweight turtleneck, a long sleeved top, and a cardigan w leggings or slim pants. (winter has not given up its grasp yet).

The rust tee and sweater are perfect additions to my wardrobe, I have olive and forest green along with the rust as my basics. Thank you. As a redhead who looks ill in all black, I like these colors!!

Hello Janice, I found your blog a few weeks ago and have been having so much fun working through it (and I can just tell how much fun you have writing it). I am sure it will help me overcome that feeling of having a “wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear” by identifying some gaps that need filling and some clothes that I need to get rid of as they just don’t work with anything else! This colour selection in particular is so perfect for me and fits lots of my favourite items. A great project for my seemingly endless lockdown so many thanks for sharing your creativity.
