She Decided to Branch Out…
She’s worn navy with pastels for decades… And she’s now ready for an update!
She’s always felt drawn to camel. The richness, the warmth, and elegance. And she’s been told repeatedly that it was a color that she could happily wear. But she starts small… something below the waist!

Success! But the real camel item that has always caught her eye is a lovely cardigan…

Now she’s feeling positively emboldened! She looks closely and her scarf and sees a beautiful shade of blue; would a matching sweater and flats be wrong?

But she’s not going to rely entirely new purchases – when she look in her closet, she realizes that her aqua sweater would be perfect with her new scarf!

At this point she feels so confident that she dares to BOTH wear a camel sweater without navy under it, and mix a printed scarf with a printed skirt! Is there nothing this heroine will not do?

Thank you thank you thank you. I asked. You delivered! I haven’t pressed “buy” yet on the scarf, although both versions of this scarf just call my name. Instead I am renewing my friendship with a similar teal and cognac coloured scarf that I already have. I bought it at Talbots decades ago and wore it a ton and then my daughter had it for a while. You have given me lots of ideas on wearing it with other items I already have in my closet. And that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
I love the hoodie outfit with the duck boots! That’s right down my alley. Thanks for all you do.
Yes! I’m now chewing on the ways I can mix scarves with my favorite hoodie!

That Gestuz skirt is a knock-out! I don’t wear skirts but I would wear that one in a minute
I have learned when I am not sure what clothing to wear…look at my scarves, choose one and pull out top and bottom, that fairly closely matches the colors …It always works. Thank you Janice!!!!!
It’s wonderful how this works, isn’t it – and can lead to combing things we wouldn’t have thought of before.
These combinations are wonderful. One of my favorite reasons to read The Vivienne Files is for inspiration within my own scarf drawer and closet-and also for leads to clothing I might need to complete the picture. I’ve also drawn conclusions enough to know when items aren’t working and the ability to “let go” of them. They’ll bless and work for someone else! This is stunning! I love the idea of mixing patterns – the zebra print skirt is stunning! I also like the idea of wearing a scarf with a hoodie and boots making the look more feminine. In hunting around in my scarf drawer I rediscovered a floral and geometric scarf I haven’t worn for years – teal, deep violet, mauve and off-white.
Beautiful! Wish I could wear camel. Maybe a cool leaning beige might work.
Ditto! I had a quick look yesterday at alternatives for a ‘cool’ colouring and I came across Rose beige which is a paler camel shade with a pink base (as opposed to yellow), which looks gorgeous with whites, pinks, rose browns, taupe and denim blues.
