She’s Taking The Train…
She’s not sure how long she will be gone – maybe 2 weeks, probably longer…
She’s going north. She doesn’t now how far, or exactly to where, or for how long. She really will NOT be pinned down on this!
She’s going to that city first, but from there… She’s not moving on until she feels like she’s ready to. I personally wouldn’t be surprised to learn that she spends at least 2 weeks JUST in 1 city…
She’s been saving money since… forever?Just for this summer…
If she doesn’t see everything she wants to on this trip (and she knows that she can’t possibly see everything!), she can go again next year…
Would you like to pack up and head out, without a clear destination or schedule? Or do you like to know where you’re going to sleep every night?
love,
Janice
p.s. back in 2016, I was considering the truth in a “12 Must-Have Items” list…

Love the Lily jewerly! It’s so classic. Also, that shade of blue with black. This is a beautiful capsule.
Judy says
What about another post using a dress for her in that color blue?

I love the blue/pink/gray together – fabulous colors together. I found that my current summer colors have been unusually pale pink/blush and pale blue and this inspires me to carry it through into winter with grey and denim. Lise

Love the shapes here; shades of Ulyana Sergyenko. I like to have hotels reserved in advance (although I may cancel them.) I have memories of a trip with my parents where our arrival was delayed because of a train strike/bomb scare/general laxity and we were running all over Paris (it felt like—probably just the few blocks around the train station) at 3 in the morning looking for a room. I had the flu at the time, so it made a lifelong impression…

A sweater and a lot of black. I’m guessing her first stop is San Francisco.

Or Moscow?

I like to know where I’m going. This doesn’t stop me from tossing the whole agenda once the journey begins.
Once our holiday of lazing on the beach turned into an opportunity for a brief trip on a rare steam locomotive through majestic mountains. We were passing through, and tickets came up, so why not? We proceeded with half of our holiday, then ditched the relaxation for bigger, old-school relaxation. It meant doubling back, but c’est la vie. Best decision ever. That chance came only once.

Oh yes, this is me! The holiday, the colours, oh bliss! One day …

Love the dreamlike colour palette. The grey into black, blush pinks and soft blues with touches of white or winter white.
I prefer to have a large overall plan for travel. We do leave a lot of unspecified days with each trip that can flex. It means we can enjoy some spontaneity without losing the comfort of the overall structure. Or just recover from the previous day’s excursion by a pool under a big hat.
Our next pleasure trip is a cruise out of Los Angeles in October but we arrive 2 full days before it leaves just to enjoy LA, relax, or let our luggage catch up if the airline has one of it’s little issues. We rarely check bags but we might this time. We haven’t decided.
The hotel is one we’ve loved in the past, it’s got a nice pool, and it’s beside a pretty little marina. It is near the Japanese Bell park which we always make a point of looking at thru binoculars as we sail out. We’ve never gotten up to see it in the rush on previous trips.
So we know the general outline but we may not do much beyond the park & poolside. But if we want to there’s lots more to explore.
But I will leave the enjoyment of completely random adventures to other more hardy and adventurous souls.

I have had too many travel mishaps due to not planning ahead, so now I make sure that we at least have hotels booked for every night of our trip.
This is ‘my’ blue. I don’t usually pair it with black but with navy. However, seeing this. I like it paired with black. Thanks for opening up a new possibility.

Back in the 80s we traveled to Austria in the winter, with no itinerary and no reservations. We’d take a train to a city or village and show up in the Tourist Info office where they’d place us in lodging (this was pre-internet). We alternated rural cross country skiing with city sightseeing, moving on to the next place when we felt ready for a change. There was no itinerary and no way for our offices to reach us, and it was blissfully relaxing. These days I like to know where I will be sleeping each night, but sometimes I long for that freedom. – nancyo
