She knew immediately that it was just what she needed for her warm-weather wardrobe…

It suits her current color palette perfectly!

Why Don’t You Come up For the Whole Week?
She’s GOT to finish the edits on her book. This week. By Friday. No jokes, no exceptions…
cardigan – Eileen Fisher; silk top – Eileen Fisher; beige linen pants – Eileen Fisher; cropped linen pants – Eileen Fisher
She had hoped to make it to her friends’ home for the weekend…
cardigan – Lands’ End; tank – Rachel Roy Collection; skirt – Rachel Roy Collection; shorts – Lands’ End
It all seemed doubtful, until she picked up the call…
“Come up this evening and stay for the week; we’ve got electricity in the gazebo! You can sit out there all day, work, drink iced tea (until cocktail hour), and still be here to have dinner with us and spend the evening. The Wifi out there is better than in the house!”
Hmm… out of the sun, eating her friends’ excellent cooking, being outdoors but not “outside” in the buggy, windy, annoying sense of the word, and being able to get her work done!
print tee – Lands’ End; cardigan – Missoni; flowered tee – Uniqlo; dress – A.P.C.; paisley top – Diane von Furstenberg
She figure that she can probably be MORE productive there than she would be in her own home. No chores to distract, nobody at the door, no laundry, nor groceries…
“I don’t want to be a bother; between 8 and 4, except for lunch, I’ve got to really hunker down and read every word, every graph, every table, in painfully careful detail. I won’t be good company – heck, I won’t be ANY company while I’m working…”
earrings – Komang Wijayana; green sandals – Trademark; cream sandals – Stuart Weitzman; bag – Topshop
“Oh, we understand that. We figured that before I called. We just thought that getting away from home might actually help you focus, and we would still get to hang out with you in the evenings!”
It all makes so much sense, when they put it like that!
So she’s packing, and catching the Jitney in a couple of hours!
“Thanks so much – you are the very BEST of friends…”
And it seems to me that they are, indeed, the best of friends…
love,
Janice

Pretty! Glad you are feeling better.
So pretty – and such a calming look. Not my colours but really love it!
Hope you are feeling better. I’ve been overdoing the work a bit lately and feeling the aches and fatigue from my fibromyalgia so cutting back a bit and looking forward to our first Cdn. long weekend of the “summer”.
I, too, hope you are rested and feeling better! Thank you for the post today. I forget about the “whatever clean 13” approach. It reminds me of a packing technique I am seeing around. 5-4-3-3-1.
In this case it would be
5 tops
4 bottoms
3 second layers
2 shoes
And 1 dress
Many also include at least one bathing suit in the mix and accessories can be a part it the factoring. (You also have the flexibility to tweak whichever items you personally need more or less of – 2 dresses, etc) but the point is to narrow down your grouping in an orderly manner.
My daughter just left for Israel Monday and I with I had remembered to suggest the “13” tactic. It would have been perfect.
Have a great day. Janice!
Thanks, again! I always look forward to my Monday/Wednesday/Friday fashion treat!
I really like that 5/4/3/2/1 approach – I’m going to have to look into that!
love,
Janice
Love that Packing by the numbers approach. I do a lot of carry on only packing for cruises, but also for family trips etc and it’s a very helpful way to get what you need into that carry on, without all the “friends and family” of your clothing trying to insert themselves into it all and come along, all screeching to you, “you’ll be sorry if you don’t pack ME!”.
Gorgeous
Glad you are feeling well enough to post! I could EAT this whole wardrobe!
Lovely wardrobe! Hope you are feeling better.
What lovely friends, indeed. And hopefully, she will spring for a celebratory meal out for them at the end of her book editing project!
Yes!! I’d love to see more wardrobes based around jewelry. The bracelet was beautiful and I loved the wardrobe you designed around it (even though those aren’t my colors).
I just love that soft and soothing green. I’m going to translate that into a core wardrobe of icy pale taupe and grey, white and navy for the summer.
It’s cool and refreshing.
That wardrobe as it stands, plus a bathing suit or two and a large hat – would be ideal for a cruise somewhere warm and sunny.
These colours are good for me so this wardrobe works. I’m a magnet for green. Those sandals are great for working from the gazebo and popping in for meals. I don’t think that beige dress would work with my fair colouring though. I’d swap it out for a darker beige or a green. Cute style though. Just the thing to put on for dinner at the end of a successful day working in the gazebo!
Prettiest bracelet yet. Love the green.
Janice,
Hope that you are much improved !
As for this post —- now we’re talkin ‘ my colors — love it ! I was hesitant about including brown as a Summer color, but this more chocolate brown is just the ticket ! Thanks for the inspiration ! Just today I ordered some peach tops to fill a hole in my Summer wardrobe plan. It would be a nice complement to this lovely green !
So delighted to see you well enough to post again! This green/beige/brown is so perfect for summer. I also love the way the brown pieces can be used with pinks and greys from former posts, and then with black from other wardrobes. Lots of beautiful choices!
Green jasper is so pretty! This is not remotely my palette and who cares! I enjoy the combinations so much. There is always a lot to ponder regardless of colourways. Such a generous gift. Glad you are feeling better, Janice.
