Yes, this is the scarf that I received for our anniversary….
Let’s Be Slightly Reckless!
When her sweetheart came home with a big bonus, they really wanted to celebrate…
Would it truly be insane to go to Paris for just a long weekend? (yes… it’s madness!)
She’s already inspired:
They agreed on a couple of key things:
- 1 suitcase – a big one – that they will share, and check. If it is lost, they will BOTH have to go shopping!
- Not even going to TRY to get over jet lag – sleep ’til noon, dine ’til midnight…
- SERIOUS dining… They will dress up (not black tie, but nice) every day, do a modest amount of sight-seeing, and focus on evening meals!
She’s going to keep things very simple, and quite comfortable – no tight waistbands, nor “body-con” dresses for this trip!
“Are those loafers or slippers?”
If you can’t tell, does it matter?
It took her almost no time to pack…
She’s getting away with packing 3 pairs of shoes ONLY because she’s able to get both the pumps and the flats into 1 shoe bag… What her sweetheart doesn’t notice won’t do any harm, right?
She doesn’t even slow down to check her outfit possibilities – she’s either very confident, or not too concerned about “having” to shop in Paris!
Would you be willing to travel 5 or 6 time zones to spend a long weekend in your favorite place? I admit that Belovedest and I would do this in a heartbeat, if we found airfares that didn’t make us cringe in horror…
love,
Janice

Travelling so far for so little isn’t very ecological…heard about climate warming? Lovely outfits esp red mac but wear them somewhere local?
Janice says
Oh, you’re so right! Maybe it’s better that this just stays a dream, eh?
hugs,
Janice

Carbon emmissions for the flight are the same whether the heroine and her beau stay 2 days or 2 months. If two days is what fits best in your world, then enjoy. Not all of us have the luxury of long vacations. I have never been able to take off a Thursday or a Friday because my career requires I am there to run weekly payroll so every vacation I’ve had in 20 years has been Saturday-Wednesday. You’re long weekend scenarios are my life.

Exactly What I was thinking about too. I would prefer more ecofriendly travelling. Pollution from all the airplanes is really a big issue. We cant travel the way we have been doing the last 2-3 decades. It is not sustainale or responsibel

Love this colour combination! Lise

I love everything about this wardrobe!

This is such a great post. So simple, elegant and versatile! You constantly amaze me. My 2 favorite neutrals are black and navy. I’m packing for a spring trip to Hollywood, California and trying to make it work. My accent color is pink/peach/coral. What do you think? oh….and white, off white.
Love,
Hallie

None of the images are showing – tried on both my iPad and a computer. It’s showing broken links. Just letting you know!

Sadly, I’m seeing only broken links, too. Love the idea of staying on one’s home time zone and such pampering as midnight dinners! :)

This is my Winter palette (with grey added). I’ll save this post for reference.

Janice,
As I keep getting more vertically challenged as I age, I might substitute a red clutch for the red shoes to keep the interest higher on my body, though I would LOVE to wear those red flats ! Maybe if I get a wee bit older and a “ who cares “ outlook on life ? C’est la vie !

What a great compact group. The four pairs of shoes are a bit of a splurge for a carry on traveller but they really set the tone and make these outfits sing. I don’t even wear these colours and I still love it. Now I’m learning to see the post and mentally swap out colours in the post for colours that work for me. Navy for black. Warmer blue and red for me. But this is gorgeous! Off to Paris!

EEEEKKKKKKK cannot wait to see the anniversary scarf in person :-) xoxoxox

I love the scarf, the colours and the clothes. Also getting excited to see what you have prepared to delight us with on Monday x

What a fun idea. If all I had were a few days, and we could swing it airfare cost wise I’d do just that. Ignore the time zone by staying pretty much in my own zone. Sleep in, eat at midnight and generally enjoy the place on my terms. YES!!!!!
Saves any jet lag from such a short break. Maximum enjoyment of the trip.
I love the detail of the scarf & the colours. Superb travel capsule and the shoes are perfect.
Flat sandals take almost zero space and a light pair of Skechers type walking shoes plus light dressy heels and wear the heaviest loafers for travel.
In a nutshell that’s my perfect shoe wardrobe for a week to six weeks and I know from experience that I can get that into my carry on suitcase. I do that all the time for my cold climate cruises like the Alaska ones. Perfection.
If our heroine needs a change of walking shoes to dry out a pair in the hotel or she just likes to change shoes to give her feet a rest while continuing to explore all day the second pair is vital.

I love this bright, chic wardrobe, and, of course the fantasy. I had a little sticker shock on the red trench, but, well, it, too, is a wonderful fantasy!
Janice says
It is an absurdly expensive jacket, but it would be the last one you would ever need to buy!
hugs,
Janice

I would not do this due to ecological reasons. We really, really need to change the way we think about travelling, difficult as it is after decades of carefree travelling…
This post reminds me of all that is good and right about Parisian style. Compact size, classic timeless items that are both beautiful to look at and comfortable to wear… that is something to be inspired of!
BTW, That scarf looks like a perfect addition to your wardrobe! I’m tempted to get one in a different colorway…

Absolutely! Living on the East Coast makes this a definite possibility – we’ve done Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, London.
Where to next? ;)

Let’s pretend we travel closer to home, avoiding the jet lag issue. Yes, we’d take a long weekend trip to a place we love, by the ocean. We have done just that, at the end of a high-pressure time at work, at the end of winter. March is such a dreary, cold month where will live. Comfortable waistbands are de rigeur when you”re there to eat and sample the local beverages. We know no amount of long walks among the cherry blossoms will override the calorie count.
We’ve even shared a suitcase between our whole family on a week-long adventure, with each of us taking a carry-on, too.

I did not expect to like this grouping..but I did! Lively and versatile…there would be no tedium of the lack of variation. Wouldn’t be going to Paris for such a short time, but maybe Chicago!

Accessories are everything! I would be up for traveling to Paris for a weekend at the drop of a hat!

I would totally do that trip. We once did a long weekend (4 nights) to England (from the Eastern US) to attend an event and it was wonderful! – nancyo
