She enjoys peace and quiet. Solitude. A chance to curl up and read, or go for a long walk…
When she went to the resort in January, everybody thought she was crazy. But she knew that it would be beautifully deserted and melancholy, in the best possible way! She enjoyed that trip so much that she went back in April – partly for the relaxation, and partly because she made a new friend!
Their friendship grew – when she visited in August she spent most of her evenings with her new and dear friend…
But She was Surprised…
When they were talking about her next visit, and her friend tossed out the idea: “why don’t you just bring a bag of clothes up here and leave at my place?”
Well okay!
Before she walks to her wardrobe, she stops to look at her color palette and her “signature” painting. She wants to be sure that whatever she takes with her is just right…
The skies are very overcast, and the temperatures are dropping… Grey feels right! For her, grey means cozy, snuggled and wrapped up in something soft!
Her packing is simple – everything goes together! She can even wear her slippers in public, so long as she doesn’t venture too far in cold or wet weather…
She pauses for a good, long couple of minutes to make certain that her wardrobe “hangs together” well. She doesn’t worry a lot about fashion, but she does like to be dressed appropriately, and to look nice!
She ponders her various outfit options – so long as she travels in an outfit in “her colors,” she should be in good shape for any long weekend in the cool weather…
“You’ll be here alone while I’m at work; you can walk all over the grounds, or just sit by the fireplace and read… We can worry about dinner when I get home!”
Sounds heavenly, doesn’t it?
love,
Janice

Beautiful! I want it all but I would look a bit ghostly in the all grey outfit as I need more contrast. As ever, your blog is a joy! Thank you x

Very serene, I feel so relaxed looking at this wardrobe. There isn’t as much contrast as the previous collections, but I do like the grey and blue and can relate to her casual style of wearing jeans, polo necks and chunky jumpers. Her friend sounds wonderfully kind and thoughtful. I wonder which of her clothes she’ll leave behind?

Yes, serene is the word. I adopted a similar palette for one of our vacation rentals.
I find it difficult to “match” grays. When you put two next to each other one will seem almost brown. As a result I tend to wear gray with black rather than with more gray, even though your wardrobe here shows how pretty all-gray can be.

Love this collection, Janice – it looks just like my daughter’s favoured palette :)

I’ve become a lover of art … thanks to you! :) I catch myself looking at anything with a print and try to determine a curated wardrobe. This is beautiful, as always !!

Loved how the gray and touches of blue play together. Very pretty, comfy wardrobe.

I love everything about this – especially the painting! The pieces of clothing are just my style although I would probably pack some black pieces to break up all the gray. Not surprisingly, my current wardrobe is black, white, gray and blue!

This is my favorite painting/heroine in this series. So lovely and also close to what I wear myself. I’d probably add a blue denim shirt to break up the gray rather than black. I’ve eliminated black from everything except exercise clothes and like the softness of a wardrobe without it. I wear these shades of blue and gray in the spring and summer with faded red, orchid, and green.

This is so lovely and relaxing. I hope you’re working on Book or two. I just love the way you weave your stories. Each heroine is so interesting.

Oh, Janice, I really love this wardrobe and the heroine’s adventure. This light grey shade calls to me and the clear and simple color scheme is so very restful. And, the only jewelry (beside the lovely watch) is one pair of beautiful earrings. Now that’s my style! Janice Collins-Coyle, Washington DC

Another of my favourite articles. I love this winterized version of it. so serene.

Hmmm, the leaving of clothes with the “friend” reminds me of Persephone and the pomegranate seeds.

Beautiful colour palette and the painting is divine but it’s your writing that intrigues me. Lovely work, thank you….

Love this Renoir! I’ve never seen it before. He’s my fav! Has your heroine been the the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia? I think they have 182 pieces by Renoir. Maybe she can visit on her next trip!

I wear gray a lot. It’s much better for my complexion than black. And I don’t worry that much about matching them. If I feel good, then I figure I look good (enough). Love the hint of blue in this wardrobe.

Add in a blue/grey check shirt and this would be my ideal wardrobe. So calm, serene and cosy.

One of my favorite paintings! I could add some navy to this and be very happy! I so love your stories Janice!
