But his popular reputation (you know, the cartoon paintings) doesn’t really do justice to his creativity. There’s a big show about his work at the Art Institute of Chicago right now, which I can highly recommend. My view of his talent has changed completely…

Such range I didn't know he had! Thank you for sharing. I really do miss the Art Institute. When I lived in Chicago many moons ago, Thursday evenings I was likely to be found there. Susan (Mpls).

Beautiful! I went to school at The School of the Art Institute and miss it terribly. I don't comment often, but I read all your posts (and guest posts), love them!

I will have to buck the trend – this is not art, it is junk. Give me an Old Master or Impressionist any day.

I read about this expo on AIC's website. It looks very interesting and I love what you are showing here. We are going to be in Chicago July 29 and 30. A visit to the art museum is 1st on my list Master Bliss knows it is my favorite thing to do when in Chicago (even though it is first, we will visiting it on Monday).

I recognize the third work as a representation of the ancient sculpture "Laocoon & His Sons" based on one of the Greek tales of Troy. I didn't know he studied classical subjects. Chicago has several museums I have wanted to visit! Lucky you!

Fun! And what struck me immediately is they SO go with your wardrobe plans. A base of neutral, some black, some navy and a few brights to give it some pop!

This is such a beautiful artwork. I have no talent like this but I am always trying. I think I have to join to school of art.

Exactly what I was thinking. Vivienne has trained my eye with all the wonderful Hermes scarves. I see scarves everywhere. These would be gorgeous. I could see the bottom one for myself especially.
