I’m committed to wearing a solid column of garments as an easy and flattering base for a million accessory variations. This week, I’m going to explore the variations possible with a column, using a different neutral each day.

Love the idea of column dressing. Do you find it usually requires a 3rd item (cardigan, jacket, coat) in order to provide contrast?

I could live in this particular combination. I love working with grey and think the idea of column dressing is very clever. Another really great idea to use for travel.

These are beautiful. Grey seems to be a trend color as it is not always easy to find.

Love all of these looks. Grey is such a great color to work with and I love the one color column idea.

Is it possible to have a small wardrobe, but focus on column dressing? And does this method work for all body types? Thanks!

Lovely choices. Looking forward to the rest of the week.

I love grey and recently bought a tank as a layering piece…it goes so well with my new Hermes scarf, the one you so kindly showcased on your blog.
I love the jewelry selections in today's post.

Gray is my black. Yes, it's more difficult to find but always looks classy and classic and, with my coloring and grayish eyes, more flattering. And since column dressing is my uniform (it's slimming, for one thing, especially with a jacket or cardigan and an oblong scarf or long necklace)this is the perfect blogpost for me. I wish I could just click Order on everything! Thanks, Janice, for your pre-dawn creativity and energy.

Pairing a column of color with colorful accents is a brilliant idea. After reading your blog, I purchased some cardigans with t-shirts in matching colors and now have lots of remixing potential. Much more that I had previously even though I had MORE items then. It was a great idea. I'm going to try this column of color idea to include my bottoms too. Thanks!

Grey/silver and red always makes me think of Mary Magdalene. In a good way.

Where Mary Magdalene is concerned, it's all good. :)

Grey and red is so elegant! The only way I can wear grey is with color next to my face, and these outfits give me some inspiration for this winter.

Oh I am not a dress girl but THIS is right up my alley… I am watching and learning… Thank you!

Grey never looked so good!

I've noticed a lot of column dressing on TV with various female celebs who successfully cover the not-so-flattering parts of their body in this chic way. You've come up with some real style here. I love all of it.

Love the last set! Grey is such a workable color and I love contrasting it with peaches and blues. Though it might require an additional suit for column dressing, I think these can be perfect for traveling. It is always best to bring clothes that can be used in other combinations. Thanks for an inspiring selection.
