One of my dear readers asked me for suggestions about accessorizing this very lovely Talbot’s dress. Since the dress is uncomplicated and classic, a variety of ensembles is easy to envision!
And the dress is no longer available from Talbot’s, but that does NOT matter; the lessons here apply to any dress that is simple enough to provide a background for the accessories.

Janice, you do have the most amazing eye for details: texture, attitude, color, and on and on…
Maybe I can post again with my new MAC–

This seems like a perfect example of "high-low" mixing. I have found that Talbots has collections of nice basic traditional dresses…often at really reasonable sales prices (like as low as $50!)…add a few posh, classic accessories (that are timeless and well designed) and you are on trend and smart and thrifty too.
Brilliant selections here…I especially like the last two. Thanks, Janice. Best to you, Dorothy

I really like the different belt possibilities you show for this dress. Very nice! BTW, I have spend time over the last few days re-reading your blog (and the comments) from the beginning. It's probably the 4th or 5th time I've done that, and each time I learn more and more from you about style and wardrobe. Many, many thanks!!

I like to reread the posts too. I am trying to absorb this concept so it is innate and not a mental calisthenics. I bought the French Chic book, but I like Janice's posts the best. Karen
