Just a quick reminder – when you need a new accessory, don’t forget to check the websites of art galleries. The above brilliant little idea is available from the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. My favorite tiny handbag is from there…
And you get to support smaller designers, you don’t sport big gaudy logos, and you don’t see yourself coming and going on the street…

Fun ideas! Janice, I just want you to know I have acquired the first pieces to a distilled and curated wardrobe during the recent Land's End sale. I bought a cashmere cardie (navy/aqua argyle) and a matching sweater. I have looked at it online for months, considered where to start with building a wardrobe, chose to go with navy for the first core and went for it! Even though I am not where I want to be weight-wise, I decided there is no point in wearing crummy clothes that make me feel bad. Through reading and studying your blog, you have given me the skills and confidence to do this! Thanks you so much!

Also worthwhile to check out charities that sell jewelry, scarves (http://www.fistulafoundation.org/whatyoucando/catalog.html), etc. And tell people what museum or charity you bought it from! They all can use heightened awareness.

Some of my favorite jewelry has come from art museums. Usually something that wouldn't be found in a department store and prices are very reasonable.

Museum shops are the best Not only do you get wonderfully different things, but often at very good prices. I love them.

I agree completely! That little zipper bag is so cute. I love museums a lot, and their shops are just wonderful. The Met in NYC just had a jewelry sale on their site and I wanted EVERY.THING!!!

Amen to this, sister! I'm lucky to have some pretty amazing gallery shops available to me here in DC courtesy of the Smithsonian Institute. They are fantastic for finding girfts that aren't immediately recognizable as purchesed from Target.
By the Way, I just started my own blog and took my first shot at a Photoshop look book on Friday. Wanted to thank you so much for sharing your secret for setting these up – Polyvore is impossible. Check it out: http://www.aspireinspireblog.blogspot.com

What a great idea. I thought the gift shops were just for postcards to add to my art collection and clever toys for grandchildren.
