Women of all ages were still wearing white jeans, without seeming to even consider that they might be “out of season”. Except for avoiding slush and puddles, why NOT wear white jeans all year ’round? The ban on white is sort of archaic, isn’t it?

I think about this every Labor Day…usually along the lines of "Oh crap! Now what?" A few weeks later the New England weather is such I no longer wish to wear white because it's getting colder. However, as a native Californian, I used to long to continue with white white pants.
Did you see any women wearing colored or print tops with their white jeans? Every time I have people watched in Paris, it seems 90 percent of the choices are neutral colors.
I've had more compliments wearing my white blazer today on a chilly October day, than I had all summer! I adore wearing my white pieces year round. It's refreshing to wear a lighter color in a sea of dark greys and blacks in the cooler months.
Love the pink loafers, but I don't think white pants are my thing.
I have trouble with the rolled cuff thing too, in fact the length of slim pants seems difficult. Perhaps you could give some pointers? (pretty please!)
I was raised on the no white white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. I have lived in the South for 20 years where apparently the rule was no white before Easter. I still can't bring myself to wear white pants between Easter and Memorial Day. I love winter white in fall and winter but I am not sure I can do white white unless its a shirt. Besides, as has already been noted – white pants/jeans are hard to keep clean any time of the year.
In the past couple of years, I've been in London, Paris, Sydney, and Ottawa. In all of those countries, boots and flats were the predominant shoe type. If I did see any pumps or high heels of any kind, they were sensible and never more than 2-3". No stilettos and definitely no platforms of any kind.
We saw a few women in silly shoes (it was fashion week, after all), but they looked frankly awkward and uncomfortable. Part (a bit part) of being attractive and chic is being comfortable…
I love my white jeans. I've just recently discarded the "fashion rule" that one should avoid the color for pants if you're heavier. I typically wear my white jeans with a black top and black ballet flats. I'm wondering though, I thought Parisiennes insist on a base of neutral colors for their wardrobe with just a touch of color (usually in an accessory). So why all the bright colors in your examples (even though they are gorgeous)? I read a blog entry on another site stating that she was just in Paris also but was met with strange looks because she was wearing a red dresss (too much color?).
I actually saw a fair amount of color being worn. But last week was fashion week in Paris, so its possible that all rules were thrown out the window. Plus, the weather was gorgeous, and if one was ever going to be tempted to break out a colorful garment for the day, last week was the time to do it!
A couple of thoughts. Labor Day is a US holiday so I'm not sure there's the same cultural line in the sand. I have heard that the people who used to 'summer' put their whites away at their summer residences and we all carry on this way. That's long ago but I guess we wanted to emulate the lesiure class. I seem to have a mental break at Labor Day and want to go into Kahki's instead of white jeans. It's totally irrational, I'll grant you that. Winter white cords or trousers seems to work but optic white jeans…. I guess I like to transition.
Thank you for permission to wear my white jeans. I'm so old school that I'm shy about wearing them in winter. But why not? I winter in Florida and anything goes. You're paired them well with winter colors. Bravo. Sam
White jeans! I will probably have to wait until next spring to see them in stores, but I can hardly wait to buy my first pair ever. I gave up on all forms of white on my lower half when my kids were small (they stayed clean for 15 minutes if I was lucky) and am only now, belatedly, getting back to them.
My problem is that psychologically they make me feel cold. I think it is because they are white cotton, and I must have been properly brainwashed – lol. I would have no scruples on a vacation to somewhere warm. I would feel much "warmer" in cream cords. Oh, I admit, it is probably mostly in my head.
LOL white has never had the limitations put on it in Europe as in the US – it's a popular winter colour.
