Capsule Wardrobe 2013 Accent: Nectarine, at work
January 9, 2013
Blazer – 3.1 Phillip Lim, sweater – Diane Von Furstenberg, blouse – Boutique by Jaeger, scarf – Hermes
Turtleneck – L.L.Bean, blue striped shirt – Golden Goose, blue shirt – D&G, white shirt – Theory, navy blazer – A.P.C., grey sleeveless sweater – J. Crew, grey cardigan – J. Crew, navy v-neck – J. Crew, navy shirt – J. Crew, navy pants – A.P.C., grey skirt – Comme des Garcons, grey pants – Theory
What is the name of the scarf? I looked on the Hermes website but didn't see it, so I'm assuming it is a discontinued style. I have been looking at Hermes scarves, but just hadn't found one that spoke to me enough to make the investment. This one does, though.
Hi Janice et al, I loved the new format of the blog at first, but the sidebar that used to have the blogs you followed, tags and other helpful links seems to have disappeared. Am I the only one with this issue? Many thanks.
There should be a dark bar on the right side of the screen – really narrow – just hovering there. If you put your cursor over it, it opens up into links for the other blogs, the labels etc.
Thanks for helping so many of us with your wonderful blog and illustrations. I do soooo love this blog, but my iphone hasn't displayed it correctly since you began the new format. I hesitate to even mention it, because I am so very grateful that I found this blog a few months after you started. It is the first thing I look at each morning, but must wait until I'm at a computer later in the day to see all but "About Me" and "Subscribe" side tabs and the bar at the top only shows the "Home" tab. If I could please suggest that you add "view web version" at the bottom of your post, I could view everything that my computer sees and I could enlarge the pictures to see them better. Thanks, AOKinKentucky (Anonymous only because I don't have an account to do it differently)
I guess that all that goes around comes around, but there's something very 80's about these dusty and grayed pastels (and cobalt blue). I guess I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with "poppy," which is the color that looks freshest to me. But even when the colors don't inspire me, your vision always does, Janice. I was looking this morning at some of your earliest posts and thinking about how that vision has grown even more confident and your way of explicating even more clear over time. You have definitely found your calling and your genre! So, thank you, yet again.
Yesterday I bought my spring shoes because of your post. It's called coral, but as far as I'm concerned, it's the same thing as nectarine. Thank you for the inspiration!
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the great information you provide on this site. My daughter got a new job recently. It's the first job she's had where she need to dress professionally. I sent her links to some of your posts. She hit the consignment shop and was ready to go with little fuss or expense.
Before work, I culled a bag of clothes from my closet. I considered one wool skirt for donation, but I decided to wear it to work instead.
Black wool skirt + pink shirt + black-and-white silk scarf.
By the time I'd been driving 5 minutes, I realized that the wool skirt was too itchy. If I went back home, I'd be late for work. If I kept the skirt on, I'd be miserable.
However … there was a print skirt in my donation bag.
I changed into the print skirt, and I put the black wool in for donation.
Here's the funny part: As soon as I walked into work, wearing the black-and-white print skirt,(which has touches of green), and a bright pink shirt, one of my coworkers said, "You look GOOD in that!"
Are you laughing? If it hadn't been for your ideas about capsules and clothes that repeat colors, I never would have been able to pull this off!
Thanks for the rescue! Jora
p.s. I'm keeping the print skirt. Out of gratitude.
This is lovely. I think the nectarine would provide a gentle warmth to fairer skin tones laboring under fluorescent lights at work! I can see myself in this.

That's Chant du Henna – about five years old. It still turns up on ebay, itsallgoode.com, mallories.com, and other resellers. It IS beautiful…

Thank you, Janice! I think the bar shows up on normal computers but not on tablets. Not a problem, though!

Agree completely. Even if the I don't care for the color, Janice makes it look beautiful. :)

I have a difficult time wearing these colors well, but they sure are pretty. The DvF sweater particularly is lovely.
