I thought a lot yesterday about the mystique of the Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. I’ve never even tried one of these on; I’m super-skeptical about how a traditional wrap dress will work with my short-waisted, full-balconied, and generally no-waist torso. But I browsed through a lot of Diane’s other dress designs, and found the beauty below. This really calls out to me in all kinds of ways – it’s got my favorite colors, a much less dangerous décolletage, and some side shirring that seems as if it would be very flattering…

I prefer this cut also, even though I am tall and have a waist. But I am also well endowed, and this cleavage thing has a way of slipping into the tarty territory very quickly. Anyway, a gorgeous dress beautifully styled. Have a nice weekend.
Another great figure flattering style…though I am not sure about this print!! But I do love the black and white flats!!

This would be an easier dress to wear but, on 5'3.78", the pattern might be too large. I really like the red Gucci jacket.

The traditional DVF wrap dresses (solid colors) are not worth the money. There are other versions available for a lot less money that have better finishing. The DVF Julien dress has a flap of material in the neck/chest area that should be sewn down, but isn't.

I am fairly new to the site. I am confused about wearing the boots / trench with the dress. Inclement weather and then change into other shoes when you arrive at destination?

I love this dress, the colors, the print, and everything except the very short length. I went to the site to see it on a model. I have a couple of DVF dresses that I love. They are fairly wild prints, but sport three quarter sleeves and are below the knee in length. I remember scouring her site for the dresses that were below the knee. Both of mine are simple fitted sheaths. I've never tried one of her wrap dresses either.

For those who have a small budget and nimble fingers here are some suggestions for sewing patterns with a similar shape – that way you can have the fabric colour and print of your choice, the length you want, and put as much effort into achieving a good finish as you desire.

If I'm going for a print, it would be a non-repeating one like this. Here in Montréal, cleavage is considered a national right; women show a lot, even at work. They were dumbfounded when the uproar about Hillary Clinton's tiny display of cleavage hit the press.

I love this dress! Despite being an hourglass, I have never purchased a DVF wrap dress. I find them too short and too skimpy for all my curves. Every time I try one on, I have to size up and up and up. I am enjoying your accessories with this one. I would go for them all in blue.

Supposedly the wrap dress is universally flattering. I have really liked the two posts with the DVF's dresses. I am a fan of hers most always.
Even though I am [ahem] empty-balconied, I find myself busting out of DVF wrap dresses. I have a couple wraps from BCBG Max Azria. They are not silk, but I consider that an advantage because they are less likely to snag. At full price they sell for about $150 to $175. I bought one for $70 from an online flash sale and the other (nearly new) on eBay for $13.76. With all of that said, when I learned I had missed out on a chance for a limited-edition python-print DVF wrap dress, I fretted about it much longer than is really rational.
I just received a DVF wrap dress for my birthday. I am curvy so I think it fits nicely but will need a camisole (as suggested by a prior poster) to provide more coverage up top.

I love this dress and didn't think I could wear this style. But your description leads me to believe that I possibly could. My lack of a defined waist creates no end of problems. I tried a side wrap sweater from Ralph Lauren that I loved on the rack, but was awful on me. I am looking for a dress for a day casual day wedding and this would be lovely.
