I missed a chance last week to go see this exhibit, so I’m going to see it Thursday, with Belovedest and his mother.
We stopped by the Art Institute of Chicago yesterday, to renew our annual memberships, and to check that we wouldn’t need special tickets to see the Impressionism exhibit. And I bought a copy of the exhibit catalog, for one of you.
Send me an email at [email protected], and tell me your name, and your contact information (email address is best). Friday morning, I’ll put all of the names on a (hopefully very LONG) list, and generate a random number to choose the winner of the book. Your book is still shrink-wrapped, so you can have that thrill of unwrapping it and thumbing through a pristine book full of beautiful pictures and some fascinating text…
Oh yea, I’ll pay the shipping too. Doesn’t matter where in the world you are. It’s the least I can do for my friends.
love,
Janice

This sounds like fascinating reading. Will email in a bit. Here's an interview with Gloria Groom, curator at the Art Institute talking about the exhibition. Somewhere in the middle, she says a Parisienne can be made in two ways: 1) by being born in Paris or 2) by what she wears…
Bon Appetit!

Other than dining with you, Janice, the Art Institute was my favorite part of Chicago. I have to return to it someday! I will send the email!

I am getting a bit envious of the lives of city people. :)

I've never been to the Art Institute in Chicago — but I'd love a "virtual" visit!

I am sorry our plans didn't come together…but you were where you needed to be. I ended up NOT going either…mom and I were seriously thinking about it but decided to just do things in her area while I visited. I already have a "back-up" plan booked in September with a girlfriend…not only to see the Art Institute and the exhibit but to also "do" Chicago for a couple of days. Let me know what you think about the exhibit. I am still DYING to go.
