Accessories are an important part of shifting your wardrobe from summer to autumn. While you can get by indefinitely without any jewelry or scarves, at a minimum, you’re going to need a pair of shoes…

Your accessories are beautiful. I jumped on those gorgeous flats, and then saw the price. Be still my beating heart. Gorgeous.

Would it be possible to show a transition using dark brown? If you've already done this please let me know where it is in the archives. I love your blog and have gained so knowledge regarding my own wardrobe.
I appreciate the time and effort you put into your series, and always find inspiration.
Thanks.

When I looked at your previous post, I thought "OK. Some nice clothes, but nothing too exciting!" Now, looking at the outfits you've created with your accessories, I'm thinking "Great outfits!" It shows how much we can all learn from your blog. Many thanks!

Love these ideas. We are in the process of listing our house to sell, and beginning two new jobs. I'm going back to teaching after many years away. I'm thinking this idea is going to be the way to go as we transition…

I'm not a very good 'commentor' but just needed to let you know how much I am enjoying these posts about transition.

Thanks for showing navy and pink – one of my favs! I will be using this idea in reverse as I live in the southern hemisphere and we will be moving out of winter soon.
I am trying to reduce the number of garments I own and can practically use. Janice, have you come to a conclusion of how many garments is actually enough for a year? As there are only some many days in a year and only so many garments we can actually wear. No sure Project 333 is fully appropriate??? Your thoughts please.
Janice Riggs says
That's a tough question, and I think the answer is different for each of us. I'd say that if you can look into your closet and find something to wear for anything in your life, and if you like the way you're dressed most of the time, AND if there's nothing languishing unworn in your closet, then you've hit the sweet spot. For me, I think the number is going to be in the 70's, maybe upper 60's. There will be maybe a dozen items that are worn only in hot weather, another dozen that are for cooler weather, and everything else will be around all year.
But it could all change. That's part of the challenge, and the fun!

These posts inspired me to look at my cooler weather clothes. I have been happily wearing a navy and pink "Whatever is Clean" wardrobe this summer and love your suggestions for transitioning the clothing to Fall. My only "problem" is my purses. I have a collection of black handbags that make me very happy. Is there a way to incorporate them into this color scheme for fall ?
Janice Riggs says
If your black bags make you happy, carry them! There's no law that accessories with navy clothes must also be navy – men wear navy clothes constantly with black shoes, and nobody has a nervous breakdown because of it.
When your things make you happy, you've got a successful wardrobe. Really nothing else matters as much as your feelings of pleasure and satisfaction…
