I need to utilize my LBD more. Instead of waiting for the rare cocktail party invitation, I could be styling it for so many other occasions. Need to think out of the box. I am still stuck in an "outfit" mentality, not breaking up separates or using items in new and different ways.
I have about three or four black dresses and wear them all the time—for most any event/occasion. No need to buy all kinds of outfits for receptions, parties, church, lectures, etc. etc. I just change the accessories. I wore a sleeveless Eileen Fisher knit dress all summer. Now, I can add a jacket/sweater and keep wearing the same dress this fall. I could use some snazzier shoes, but I can never bring myself to buy a pair of shoes just for fun. I tend to stick with my sedate heels (black) and my sedate flats (black).
Excellent!!!!!!
Why didn't I think of this???
This is my go to ensemble – year round! I have several simple dresses in navy and black. I pop jackets and sweaters over them. Pretty pumps add the kick (pun intended). Jewelry adds the sparkle.
The outfits travel well. They are appropriate for the workplace. They are easy for going out to dinner. Simple perfection!
I have not owned a black dress in many, many years, but I might change my mind come the following spring. Oh, and that maroon cardigan is what I want…
This would be awesome with a little gray dress or little navy dress too–for those of us who don't look so great in black!
It could also work with a black blouse and skirt combo?
Absolutely!
