Sometimes, the easiest way to prepare for an evening out is to take a moment behind closed doors, slip out of your blouse or tee shirt, and button your cardigan (not quite all the way up!) over bare skin. If your cardigan is lightweight, not at ALL scratchy, and buttons up far enough for you to be comfortable, it’s a great option to consider wearing it on it’s own. Add more festive footwear, and some beautiful jewelry, push up your sleeves a bit, and smile!
Even if you are a VERY casual person, sparkly shoes and a serious necklace will elevate your jeans to an evening-appropriate ensemble.
love,
Janice

Janice, more fabulous ideas! I love the fact that you even show the more casual of your readers how we can dress up our jeans and elevate our look.
I wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful posts you have written for us too throughout the year. It's such a pleasure everyday to tune in and see what you have come up with. In my case, living in France, it's my after-lunch treat. Coffee, a chocolate (just one!) and your blog!
I have really taken to heart the post you did some time back on our closet being the one place in the world where all of the clothes were selected just for us, all the right size, all flattering, with all the right accessories, and it is the goal I am slowly working towards.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and great New Year celebrations, and can't wait to see what you will bring us in 2014!
Toutes mes amitiés,
Elizabeth

This is a great idea to dress up a cardigan. I had just decided what to wear for Christmas Eve service, now I may change my mind. You have given me so many ideas as Elizabeth mentioned that are in our possession already.
Thanks for everything and best wishes for a Happy Christmas.

I'm totally loving this semi-casual approach to dressing up a work outfit for later in the day – thanks for brightening each day with new ideas for the rest of us to implement into our personal style.

Happy Holidays, Janice! These ensembles are a great reminder that we don't need a special wardrobe for every event.

These office to dinner posts send me to the moon! Thank you for your daily inspirational work. My wardrobe has always been important to me, but it didn't really make sense or have much style until I discovered your blog a couple of years ago. Bless you, Janice!

Great ideas here, love cardigans, just add pearls and go :-)

I'm a bit addicted to cardigans – problem is, most of mine have deep v necks so need something under them. I'm usually struggling to find layering tops that don't cost the earth but look good enough to wear by themselves when it gets too hot in the office (as it usually does!)

I would think the key is to get 2 tank tops/camisoles that are sufficiently modest. One in each of your core colours. Should work regardless of whether you are using a core color or an accent color for the cardigans.
