Sometimes, the easiest way to prepare for an evening out is to take a moment behind closed doors, slip out of your blouse or tee shirt, and button your cardigan (not quite all the way up!) over bare skin. If your cardigan is lightweight, not at ALL scratchy, and buttons up far enough for you to be comfortable, it’s a great option to consider wearing it on it’s own. Add more festive footwear, and some beautiful jewelry, push up your sleeves a bit, and smile!

I have really taken to heart the post you did some time back on our closet being the one place in the world where all of the clothes were selected just for us, all the right size, all flattering, with all the right accessories, and it is the goal I am slowly working towards.

I'm a bit addicted to cardigans – problem is, most of mine have deep v necks so need something under them. I'm usually struggling to find layering tops that don't cost the earth but look good enough to wear by themselves when it gets too hot in the office (as it usually does!)
I would think the key is to get 2 tank tops/camisoles that are sufficiently modest. One in each of your core colours. Should work regardless of whether you are using a core color or an accent color for the cardigans.
