Very popular colors – I often get requests for capsule wardrobes in these! And this year, this wine color is quite popular and readily available – if it’s a color that you love, this is a good season to pick up a piece or two.
This is an long-term sweater, a blouse that should last you a couple of seasons at least, and a cardigan that you can count on for a few years. Most scarves hold up well and can be counted on for the long term. But I think the stand-out item here is the great wool shopping bag – how clever is it to make a wool bag? I can just imagine how nice this feels…
In order to give you a fuller view of just how useful these few items can be, I’ve found two dozen different combinations that work with The Common Capsule Wardrobe in navy and grey. Your mileage may vary, but I suspect that these new pieces will become favorites pretty quickly.
Just a reminder that we started with A Common Capsule Wardrobe like this. I just feel comfortable and secure imagining these items in my closet.
love,
Janice

Very elegant! More of these would be great, especially using the warm version of the common/whatever's clean wardrobe.

Burgundy is one of my all time favorites… in the glass and as a clothing color. This is lovely indeed.

I am enjoying the possibilities with the blue/grey common wardrobe so much! Sweaters and grey pants are so simple and it is so easy to just add the colour as needed. I have never been an all black wardrobe person but I love my blue/grey.

This was the color scheme of my winter travel wardrobe for a 3 week trip to Italy. As always, it was carry on only and my choices were very successful. One thing I found interesting was that aside from the 3 scarves I brought, all of my tops were solid colors – no stripes, checks or anything else and yet I never felt bored with my choices – I am chalking that up to the richness of burgundy and teal!

For some reason, these colors don't resonate with me—at all! They seem to vibrate and a little old lady. I must be off the track somehow

Auto-correct rides again! Above, it should say: too vibrant.

Hi Janice… I'm Janis!
I live in Texas (where it is rarely cold enough to need sweaters & long sleeves). Can the items in your common core be replaced with more warm weather appropriate items? How would you go about doing this?

I do love those colours but we have to be very careful with burgandy – it comes in a range of shades. On my screen your burgandies look quite brown. I need to find quite bluish-purplish burgandies to suit my colouring.

This is fabulous, Janice. We've just downsized and I no longer have my giant closet. I only kept out of boxes the core items (with accents) for ease of our firsr few weeks. Now, I have no I Teresa in unloading those boxes! This wardrobe is very much like my own…I just have more skirts than pants. But, I find myself nodding "yes" at these combinations.

I chose to go with burgundy and teal for my fall winter colors and I am having quite a bit of trouble finding them in styles or the right shade…sometimes the teal is too much like a bright turquoise and the burgundy is a bit too muddy. I keep hoping to find the true royal deep tones I'm looking for :) (I'm an American living abroad)
