Someone sent me this gorgeous photograph… I’ve flipped it sideways so that I could put up a bigger image…
This was my chosen color scheme:
It’s hard to introduce “egg-like” elements into a wardrobe, but I did stick with rounded earrings, and I aimed for a sort of softness and subtlety that would honor the gorgeousness of the photograph.
I introduced the most subtle greenish color to blend with the warm beige, tan and brown already here. It’s an amazingly effective combination, I think.
To me, these combinations are warm, gentle, and comfortable.
love,
Janice

Beautiful, I love the soft rounded shapes as well as the colours. I'm also wearing today a greenish jumper like the one above, with chocolate brown trousers; brown with accents of other colours is now my confirmed wardrobe strategy, thanks to all the inspiration provided by your posts

Not good shades for me, but for the right person this is tasteful and beautiful.

Janice, I wonder if I could ask a real favour. I am going to Utah for a 4-week fitness camp at Park City Ski resort. My problem is that I am leaving this upcoming Sunday – Help! I would like to have a suggestion for a packing wardrobe for the "time off". The resort provided me with a practical guide for what to wear while working out indoors/snow-shoeing, etc. I just figure I would need a casual, cold-weather take on a travel wardrobe, so I can look nice once in a while. I don't mind a couple of repeats so I am thinking not much more than if I were going for 1 week. The colours that I will be working mostly with are black/beige and brown. I am not too worried about which colour scheme you suggest, though, if you are inspired in a different direction. I have learned to substitute with my chosen colours from your absolutely exquisite posts. I am hoping I will come back a somewhat smaller version of myself so I am going to be mainly shopping from my own closet but I can't stand wearing workout wear evenings and weekend days I get a chance to explore the charming town on my own. Most resort packing guides are of course for warm weather so I would love your advice.

And today's egg-inspired colour scheme is amazingly beautiful.

This group would nearly draw me away from my black grey cream camel combo. It is really lovely. Margo

I agree. I have the same color combos in my wardrobe that you mention, but this is softer and the addition of blue brings so much to the capsule.

Love this combo. That skirt is a wow, but I can't wear wool. :( I moved from the brown tan base but am rethinking this now that I see this post.

I don't know what I like better: the photograph or your color wheel along with the clothing choices. But I would happily settle for that Hermes scarf. So lovely.

Love the photograph (so soft, muted & matching) & would love to know how you translate to color wheel, which I also love.

Oh, that plaid cashmere scarf and the tweed skirt made my heart pitta-pat!!! This whole set is gorgeous! I agree with grasshopper that this screams Soft Summer (I simply must show my daughter). I keep trying to imagine this capsule in black with hot pink or cobalt or purple…. or would it have to be in grey with to work as well as this (or pastels? I prefer vivids)? I love your taste, Janice. LOVE!

Gail, your post needs a LIKE button! I keep sneaking a look at it, too. *what* is it about this capsule that is so entrancing? the colors? the textures? the style? the fabrics?
Jennifer says
All beautiful, and I like how the tweed and checks also manage to suggest a very nice nest.

Where to find the Eastex Tweed skirt?
Janice says
It was probably from Marks & Spencer; I’m sure it’s no longer available… But Eastex is worth checking back with regularly, as they are a pretty classic brand.
