To the seaside!!! Everyone told you that you couldn’t have purple as your favorite color for your entire life – but YOU know better…
Did you have a favorite color as a child? I never really did, but I always wore my older sister’s clothes, so it’s maybe just as well that I didn’t have strong feelings about it!
love,
Janice

Yet another gorgeous ensemble! I love it that your "Start with Art" series also leads me in unexpected intellectual and educational directions. Example: Becuase of it, I remembered a couple of paintings from recent visits. I wnt looking for them on line, but couldn't find them. However, in the way of such things, I got sidetracked and came across things/artists that were new to me, in particular Tamara de Lempicka. I love her self-portrait in a green bugatti (http://www.delempicka.org/typo3conf/ext/ax_artwork/res/lupe.png) and The Breton Girl (http://www.wikigallery.org/wiki/painting_68921/Tamara-de-Lempicka/The-Breton-Girl,-1934), and plenty more of her works.
My meandering down the random byways also brought me this wonderful chap: https://artdone.wordpress.com/2015/01/13/ottoman-orient/paolo-veronese-school-sultan-bajezid-i-bayerische-staatsgemaldesammlungen-munchen-munich/

I like the new fade that you've added to the color wheel.

Ironically, my childhood fav was purple! But I called it *grape*. (just as I called anything yellow *lemon*). I still really like purple and wear it often. I also favor ballet pink now. So flattering and it reminds me of my days in a dance studio.

For some strange reason, I never thought about wearing purple and white together. It looks stunning!! I usually wear purple in the fall, but now I have some great ideas about transition outfits (purple 3/4 sleeve tee with white denim capris).

I don't have any purple in my wardrobe..and probably won't get any…but you certainly make it tempting! I am trying to reign in my scattered collection of clothing, but you make it difficult with these delicious options….

Thanks for all you do for us, Janice. Purple was my favorite color. It still is. I'll morph the white into palest ivory to better suit my skin and this will be a definite keeper for me. (P.S. Purple and white were my elementary school colors. Thanks for the reminder. It brought back wonderful memories.) Deb in KY

When I was quite little I remembering that pink was all the other little girls' favorite color, so I'd tell people my favorite was blue just to be ornery. By first grade my favorites were orange and yellow, and by junior high it was purple (because nobody else was wearing it). Nowadays it's celadon — the color of the pottery from Korea's Goryeo Dynasty. I still default to blue in all its hues, especially when it's mixed with a bit green or purple or grey, but most of all I love the color of the sky.

Your question about a favorite colour also sparked memories for me. I am amazed that people can remember their favorites, as I am very vague about that. I wore a lot of hand me downs so rarely chose my colours. When I seriously started sewing in my late teens, I chose blues and purples and browns. I really appreciate my fellow commenters and their suggestions, sharing and learning. You have established a very warm and intelligent community through your approach to your blog.

Purple has always been my favorite color. I am fussy about it, though, and prefer blue-violets over red-violets, (and never mix the two together!), and abhor pink-violets (ie lavenders). TMI, I know. :)

I should add – this purple is just about perfect!

Casual but also elegant. You are a genius! I was a hand-me-down kid, too, so no favorite color. In fact, my entire wardrobe was black or brown until I had my colors done last fall. Am learning how to incorporate color from your blog — thanks for all the insight.

I don't seem to remember any single favorite color as a child. I do like purple but I don't have much of it. I have blue eyes so I do have several blue items. I wear a lot of black and I have always had red in my wardrobe. I have on black and white today. I do feel drawn to warm colors. Coral is a summer favorite these days. Thanks for all these great wardrobes Janice!!
