Madame Paul Escudier (Louise Lefevre) – John Singer Sargent
These colors are luscious:
Your Biggest Client Called…
And you’re pretty fortunate that they complained about the service they were receiving, rather than just pulling the plug on your contract! But you’re headed to the service center for a couple of days of… encouragement….
The keywords are calmness and quality.
Labradorite earrings – Melinda Maria; blouse – Elizabeth and James; scarf – Hermes Collections Imperiales; lipstick – M.A.C. Nice to Meet You; nail polish – Dior Pandore; jacket – L.L.Bean; cords – Prana; watch – Skagen; tote – Halogen; loafers – Munro; duffel bag – Troubadour
You have to be careful not to be too much the “Home Office Person” because that will just alienate everyone. But you do want to show them, through every gesture, and every word, that you insist on the best possible work they can do, in a way that’s not frantic in any way.
Silk shirt – Equipment; clutch – Inge Christopher; sweater dress – J. Crew; pumps – Bella Vita; necklace – Simon Sebbag; stud earrings – Latelita London ; drop earrings – Cara; bracelet – Ermanno Scervino; teal tee – L.L.Bean; brown jeans – Viyella; cabled sweater – J. Crew; scarf – Diane von Furstenberg; cashmere cardigan – L.L.Bean
The evening you arrive, you’re going to treat the managers to dinner, and then visit the service facility the next day:
The next day you’re going to get BACK together with the bosses, and make a few… suggestions… After which you’re going to find a casual place in which to drink and dine all by yourself. Solitude will be a delight after these meetings!
Next morning, everybody gets on the phone with the client and makes amends. If this goes well, you might have time for a nap (or a spa visit?) before you fly back. If it doesn’t go well…. sigh…. well….
Looking beautiful always makes tough work confrontations go a bit better, doesn’t it?
love,
Janice
Isn't that "tawny twig" knit dress such a deep rich amber colour? An unusual, but very interesting combination of colours overall….
Soooooo beautiful.
From Margie in Toronto – Love these colours and the items themselves. I see this set as a very classy/casual wardrobe and the look that I aspire to more and more these days. Love that painting as well.
Wow! This might be my most favorite six-pack ever! Absolutely love the color combination and quiet confidence of the outfits.
But this is my reaction to almost every new set! How am I to choose?!
Mine too!
This group would make me feel strong in any situation.
Stunning – feminine with confidence, and such gorgeous colors. That tawny gold dress absolutely makes the set sing – and thanks for including a lipstick suggestion! Never would have thought have thought of that option.
Adore this painting, and this group.

Gorgeous painting and lovely colors for a wardrobe. I'd love to see what else is in this lady's closet. I agree with the others about the color of that dress.
I love everything about this post. I really would like to wear the dress in that painting…sigh. The story is inspiring and rings true to life. Then there are the colours, the choices and the scarf. I am sure you picked some deliberately powerful accessories for this gentle warrior, the scarf and the bracelet plus the lipstick and nail polish say don' mess with me.

I cannot comment…I can only swoon…

Delightful colours. I really think this is calming. The painting is beautiful. Thank you once again ..Chris from Australia X
GORGEOUS
the picture is wonderful. the poise, smile. and confidence potrayed in the picture are carried over in to the wardrobe…the colors, textures, and lines.
Love the art inspiration! The color combo is very pretty. Great story line as well. Such a great example of a classy business casual wardrobe!
Hi Janice. I've been following your blog with interest for some time now andI think reading and looking at your wardrobes is starting to train my eye to see and look for wardrobes everywhere! I particularly like the jewellery from Novica, but I am afraid there may be very high customs charges if I order from them, and they don't have an agent in Europe. I came across some so ilar jewellery this week, not as many designs or colours as Novica, but similar semi precious colours! http://www.juvidesigns.com/shop/sterling-silver.html?p=1. I've no connection, except I bought earrings there on Friday and I'm very happy with them.
Oooh, thanks so much for sharing that site. They have lovely things, and the way it is organized makes shopping for something specific very easy. All readers in Europe – take a look at juvidesigns.com for some pretty temptations!
hugs,
Janice
I'm really glad you liked it. I felt a bit like a spammer, but I did think that the jewelery fits in well with the kind of colour co-ordination you do!
While I'm on a roll, I've ordered some cardigans from a company called woolovers, these cardigans: http://www.woolovers.com/lambswool/womens-mens/lambswool-v-neck-cardigan.aspx?gender=w. They aren't fasionable, but they are a good sized 100% wool plain cardigan in a range of colours. I bought them partly in trying to find a plain cardigan in a wardrobe colour for myself following along with the 'starting from scratch' wardrobe, but I also spent quite a long time going to every shop in Dublin city center that I could think of looking for a plain wool cardigan (I was feeling the cold at the time) with no luck until this website was recommended to me. The 100% lambswool shrinks a bit the first time you wash it, but it doesn't seem to continue to shrink and wears well.
Once again, thank you for this blog! You have a way of putting things together that is inspiring, even if the exact clothes and accessories are not available, or if different types of clothes are more suitable for my lifestyle!
What a beautiful wardrobe. I love the color combinations. In a different life I would wear all of these. Alas I have no use for a cashmere dress. Fantastic choices.
What gorgeous colors!!!!
I really like this set.
I love the addition of the lipstick and nail polish.
Hmm, I am having trouble signing in with Google but I just wanted to tell you that I am so happy to have found your blog. I used to love your posts on the French Chic site. I do love this painting and the colors. All the best to you, from Alisa Greer.

I don't care that I just found this post 18 months late. It is spot on, my fav colors, and I am shamelessly copying the entire wardrobe. I LOVE the art as inspiration concept. Well done!!
