First, something pretty, just down the street from my home, on Michigan Avenue:
As I return from my sabbatical, I realize that I need to limit my number of blog posts to 5 per week. I’ve been doing 6, most of the time, and that generally requires me to either work a few long days, or work on weekends. That’s becoming unsustainable, both for my physical and mental health.

So, my question is this:
Would you rather have me post on Monday through Friday?
or Tuesday through Saturday?
It’s pretty much all the same to me, but I want to do what the majority of you find most enjoyable and compatible with your reading habits.
Even if you’ve never commented before, you can comment anonymously, and just leave a comments of Monday-Friday, or Tuesday-Saturday.
I know, in the grand scheme of our lives right now, this is a pretty small matter, but it’s important to me that I write The Vivienne Files in a way that’s most responsive to you all.
Because of the love,
Janice

Dear Janice,
Honestly, I don't care. Do whatever you need to do to keep this blog afloat for a long time to come. Six quality blog posts every week has been superhuman. Five, or three is plenty, and many bloggers with a content quality similar to yours update once a week or even less. Their blogs are still read and loved because in the end, it's the quality that counts, even today. The information overload- in fashion matters especially- is huge, but most of is it just junk. Ten-times recycled junk in twice recycled wrappers.
So what I'd love you to do is to consider, which schedule is most comfortable and convenient to YOU and follow your heart this time. You spend so much time and effort in creating this lovely blog for us, it's only fair for you to have the freedom in deciding how to do it best and in a way that contributes to your own wellbeing as well.
Love, SaraK

I agree with every word SaraK said. I love your blog and put off reading it until Saturday morning and then I give myself a real treat, Breakfast and Blog, so it really doesn't matter. (PS. Yours is the only blog I squirrel away like that). You do what is best for you. Best, Ana B

What a lovely surprise to come home to after camping for the weekend (not a suggestion for a post as it poured with rain so it was wellies and goretex).
I agree with SaraK that it really is up to you and I'm happy with any decision you make. However, I find I rarely have any time to myself at weekends so Monday to Friday would suit, but honestly, 1, 3, 5, whatever-number-you-decide on Mon-Fri, Tue-Sat or whatever-days- you-decide is absolutely great with me. Thank you! x

Ditto, I second Irene's words.

I love your blog and I look forward to reading it when I need to decompress during a break at work. So, my preference would be to stick within the standard workweek days. I missed you terribly while you were away, but I also can appreciate, respect (and encourage you) to take the time you need for yourself to maintain your emotional and physical strength — whatever it takes so that you'll continue to be able to bring us your beautiful insights and wonderful stories :)

I always look forward to your posts and I don't mind when they come – I think like other commentators you should do what suits you best and we'll just enjoy! thank you for all the hard work you put into this. And this is a lovely alternative to the rest of the world and much appreciated

Again, either way is fine. People probably have either more time to read on Sunday or less because they have family things to do. I need my cup of coffee every day, and I read your blog and a few others with it before even getting dressed (and in fact, you help inspire me when I do get dressed). What's easiest for you?

I totally agree with the others that you should choose a schedule to suit yourself and your other commitments. We all love and appreciate you, so it's a treat whenever you post on your blog, however (as a fellow blogger who is very inconsistent compared to you!) we want you to continue enjoying what you do, as that joy always comes across.

Monday through Friday but I'll look for posts regardless of what you choose. My biggest frustration as a reader of blogs (this doesn't apply to this blog) is irregular posts. Once a week on a scheduled day is much better than random postings. This is my favorite fashion blog….just wish you used less black!
Margie says
I read in Feedly and usually catch up leisurely over the weekend, so at the end of the day, I read on my schedule, so you should post on your schedule. Although whatever you decide, I hope the first of the month always gets covered for the rest of the year, as the monthly wardrobe is my favorite series by a long shot.

I have no preference. First of all, take care of yourself. If that means 5 posts a week, or 4 or 3, do it. When there are no new posts, I reread something in the archives. Even if I've read it several months ago, I find something new. You are an inspiration to so many. We want your guidance for years to come. Think of this blog as a marathon, not a sprint. Sending you love and gratitude, Pat C.

I tend to read M-F, for what that is worth. I don't think you need to post for 5 days in a row, but I do appreciate it when bloggers post with some regularity. I am glad you are thinking about what is sustainable and workable for you.

I agree with the others that you need to do what's best for you. Even 5 days a week is a remarkable feat given the amount of research you do for any given post. I'd rather see you cut back even farther if that means keeping you from burning out. I'd rather see one awesome post a week then none ever again :-)
When I visited you last fall, I think I mentioned that I would love to see a forum where we could discuss posts. I often want to comment on someone's comment and am unsure if they will ever see the reply, so I don't bother. A forum would give us some entertainment value whilst we are waiting on your next post. As much as I learn from you, I look forward to reading the others' comments just as much as the posts themselves.

The mural is really special. I'd love to be able to see it while taking a walk or driving past. When I first saw it on the blog it looked like it was embroidered on the building–really!
Anyway you want to post is good, but Monday-Friday seems good to me. Especially if it corresponds to the Mr's schedule. Also, don't feel beholden to a schedule. You can take off for sick days, vacation days, personal days, and just treat it like a fun job with fewer hours. That way you keep it fresh for you, and thus for your readers. Also, I really love your more spontaneous observations, like this one. In a city like yours I'll bet you have tons of chic wardrobe and cultural sightings to share with people like me who no longer have access to big city life anymore.
