First off, let’s remember that we left her (here) with this capsule wardrobe:
By the time August rolls around, even if you don’t NEED warmer clothing, you’re certainly thinking about it! A long-sleeved shirt can layer under anything, warm socks in pink are just plain fun, and a sweater that combines all of the chocolate, caramel and cream colors can be worn A TON…
For illustrative purposes, here are a few new outfits that result from the modest shopping excursion show above; There are certainly more combinations than these:
Next up, the weather takes a decided turn, and some warm snuggly things are in order:
As before, these few additions give you many new options – don’t forget that a button-front cardigan can be worn alone, as a sweater, in addition to being worn over another top.
When the winter holidays loom large, even the most casual of us might decide that we need something a bit dressy:
These additions also work extremely well with our fictional heroine’s existing wardrobe:
And after the holidays, heading toward Valentine’s Day, might be a great time to scour the sales and look for some romantic tops – cherry filling for our chocolate box!
Adding an entirely new color to your wardrobe isn’t as risky as it seems, if you make sure that your new accent is something that works well with your current neutral colors. These 3 pieces blend beautifully:
And OH YEAH, somebody’s going to need a couple of winter coats:
Maybe she didn’t need another scarf, but there was no way I was going to resist a scarf called “Owl in the City!”
Here’s her wardrobe, after the cool-weather additions:
I think she’s going to be very happy…
love,
Janice

I absolutely love this collection even though the colours are not for me. I also thought you may like to know that some of your links on this page appear to be broken. I haven't clicked through on all of them but the ones for the sweater and blouse in phase 4 don't work for me.

We can't leave Janice broiling or decaffeinated!

Totally in love with this combo and perhaps it's the colours but the whole "lesson" in how to build a complete wardrobe has really clicked with this example.
I also noticed the problem with the links not working when I tried to view the "Owl in the City" scarf.
PS I really want that pink puffy jacket!

Beautiful collection as usual Janice. Thought you'd like to know the links for the pink cashmere gloves and Owl In the City scarf aren't working (as of 7:49 EST).

Oh the wanties, how I have them.
Absolutely stunning!!

Woow! How could you read my mind? Guided by yourself of course, my disciplined wardrobe accent colours are pink and burgundy! Neutrals are different. White, nude, black and charcoal. But I love this. Change all options into warm weather convenient, and I will be happy to live in these clothes. -Tharu

Thank you, thank you for adding the cold weather items. Now it is complete and perfect. I keep striving to be self disciplined and focused so that I will have such a complete grouping in my colours and styles. Its getting there but it really isn't as easy as it should be.

This is so pretty. Feminine but not girly. Well done.

Love this. That Owl in the City scarf is so wonderful, although sadly not my colors. Wouldn't it be fun to see several other recent wardrobes winterized! (if not now, then maybe closer to the autumn?) – nancyo

Thanks for adding the coats! This whole process has been super helpful and for some reason I'm craving ice cream?

Sure wish the price was lower or I could afford a $170 scarf, or the $300+ cashmere turtleneck.
These color capsules are so beautiful and such impeccable taste, granted I'm grateful for when you mention something is from LLBean as I can afford those options. These posts are quite enjoyable. Thank you for putting them together.

Oh my word! I don't care for pink but I am considering it now! LOL! I am in LOVE with that burgundy silk blouse! I have sticker shock but it is beautiful! This is a wonderful wardrobe. I have a lot of ideas spinning around in my head now! Thank you Janice!!

Do you have the option to build these capsules for us?
