A Lengthy Get-Away…
She traveled for the winter holidays, and she traveled to a much warmer destination. But now, she wants to travel from one cold city to ANOTHER cold city, and then take the train to a nice warm break in the countryside… Dressy and casual. Warm and cold. What’s she going to do?
Stick with the plan!
Her favorite colors – dare she say her signature colors?
This travel outfit worked so very well for her at the holidays – no need to fix what isn’t broken. And when she gets to the next city, she’ll be ideally dressed for a leisurely lunch while waiting for her hotel room to become available. It’s always wise to think about how your first hours will be spent when you’ve arrived somewhere; you can’t always just waltz directly into a hotel room and change clothes, so wearing pajamas on the plane might not be the best of choices…

When she has all of this hanging on her portable clothes rack, as she’s packing, she’s just delighted with the coherent look of it:
She’s going to be gone for six weeks… There are lots of ensembles possible, but she’s almost certainly going to repeat her favorites!
The temptation to not come home is going to be REALLY strong…

One of the conversation threads that comes up quite often in this blog is this:
Assuming one is aiming for a relatively concise wardrobe, then would one use the same colour accents in the summer season as the winter season. This travel capsule which crosses both summer and winter seasons certainly shows the advantages of having the same accent colours all year round.
As always, I'm loving these posts and learning so much from them. Would it be possible to do one in warm colours too? No rush though – enjoy your Christmas and New Year festivities! Sue x
This is gorgeous and I love the colors. It is a bit dressy for me as I don't wear skirts or dresses but I would substitute jeans and a nicer pair of pants for those items. I am all about comfort and button down blouses usually don't work for me so I would replace those with a nice knit pullover of some sort. Perfect capsule! :)

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and lots of fun over the holidays. My jaw literally fell open when I saw that you are suggesting this wardrobe for a 6 week trip. I clearly over pack!!! I am going to do my best to be more disciplined for this next trip.

Yes, if we could manage with the same accent colours year-round, wardrobe planning would be simplified, as Jazz says. I need more variety, so change my capsules every couple of months or so. But in a cool temperate climate, with long transitional seasons, it is important to have clothes for a range of temperatures. This post would cover Tasmania's recent long, weird spring perfectly. And the combinations Janice has chosen allow for great variety in the outfits too. Like Shrebee, I'm interested in the bottoms as the starting point. At my place, it's 'start with a cardie', but the same principle applies. I'm planning some wardrobe culling over the holidays and curation of the summer outfits, always with Janice's guidance in mind. Looking forward to it!

I like the variety in this collection. The green and the blue provide vibrant colour. But there is also a black and white theme going on as well. It's interesting to see the way that including the black and white scarf adds a whole different look. May this Christmas season be special for you all.
