Yes, The Vivienne Files is one of Feedspot’s top 100 Women Fashion Blogs…
This is particularly surprising and delightful for me because The Vivienne Files is pretty thoroughly unlike any other blog – you don’t get any photographs of me (trust me, you’re happier this way!), and I don’t really talk about my own wardrobe and cosmetic choices very much (except when I’m traveling, at which time all rules are broken). These characteristics of The Vivienne Files are deliberate, and I made these choices knowing that writing a blog like this would limit my readership. So it’s particularly delightful to have any organization in the world notice me and include me in their list.
And WHAT a list – it includes some of our favorites:
- A Well Styled Life
- Accidental Icon
- Advanced Style
- Chic at Any Age
- Midlifechic
- No Fear of Fashion
- Not Dressed as Lamb
- Over 50 Feeling 40
- Style Crone
- That’s Not my Age
- Une Femme d’un Certain Age
I’m madly honored to be among those on this list…
So everybody, break out some champagne (or beverage of your choice) and celebrate with me!
love,
Janice

You are very deserving! I appreciate your intellectual approach, as well as your philosophy of having clothes you love, and not just a closet full of impulsive purchases.
Maja says
Dear Janice, it is nice that you are so honored and you deserve it, because your posts are more that useful, with a lot of informations. Even over ocean, here in Serbia, we are following you.
Many new years with your posts, that is what I wish you in future,
Maja

Bravo Janice, well done, you deserve it! I love your posts as they help remind me how I can make sure my mostly me-made wardrobe should be developed. Another cool bonus is the art. I went and bought the Tulio Cralli picture you used recently. Co-incidentally the EBay seller I used (in Italy) was called Vivien-Art. Neat sideline you have going there ;) haha.

Congratulations! I'm very happy for you!
I think that being a "different" blog might not only limit your readership. It could also mean that people who do not care about mainstream style blogs may still enjoy this blog. Many blogs are inspiring, but I suspect that this one has truly revolutionized many wardrobes and the way many women (including myself) approach wardrobe management.
I have to say though…you are very modest even when you think you are being immodest. One of my favorite categories are "my wardrobe"-posts, and that is even though your style is quite different from mine. Your style is still super inspiring, and I hope we continue to see glimpses of that every now and then.

Congratulations! And I would agree with Sara, yours is the ONLY fashion blog I read. I've looked at lots of others but I'm not interested in mainstream style or what the blogger is wearing every day (why do I care, they aren't me and I'm shopping for me). I also have zero interest in seeing endless selfies of bloggers and find the whole idea, frankly, embarrassing for them.
Yours is the most tasteful and classy blog, and the most useful for my life. I've learned a ton from you and feel like I dress better as a result. Thank you and again, congratulations.

I happened upon your blog five years ago when I was looking for styling blogs. I have checked it every day since and spread the words to my friends who are also faithful followers. Congratulations!
Madame Là-bas says
Congratulations! Yours was one of the first blogs that I encountered and I recommend it to many women that I meet as a way of "gaining control" over one's wardrobe and eliminating excessive buying. I still have too much but I am able to put together a "capsule" to take me everywhere that I want to go. I enjoy your little "made up" heroine stories as well. Thank you!
Margie from Toronto says
Congratulations on a very well deserved win! Your posts are always a delight and so, so useful. I thank my lucky stars (and so does my wallet) that I found your site.
Becca says
Congratulations!!! What a well-deserved accolade.
I'm delighted to have found your blog— I have no idea how or when at this point!—and it's one of the first things I check every weekday morning. So many of the deliberate choices you've made have made your blog incredibly accessible. Because you work with just the clothes and not a model, it's easy to imagine the wardrobes you choose in my own closet! And while you and I share a healthy love of black… well, let's just say that it's always a treat to look at a lovely wardrobe in other colors! (Forever in love with the beautiful pale blue & ivory month-by-month wardrobe from 2016!)
And meanwhile, I've used your principles to improve my wardrobe. Now, I look in my drawers and closet and I smile! Your site is accessible to anyone— I'm 26 myself— and I love it. Thank you for all that you do :-)

Congratulations Janice! Yours is the only blog I read regularly and I absolutely love it. Thank you for all your hard work!

Wonderful news — and well deserved! Your blog is a treasure trove to which I return over and over to review old posts and look for specific color combinations. I can't say that about many other blogs!
Annie says
Very well done. I love your blog and have followed it for ages, just kept a low profile. You have helped me create a wardrobe that works really well and I go shopping with a very specific list. I haven't now bought anything at all for 4 months, because it is all working so nicely. As a minimalist I really appreciate your approach. So well done, you deserve it – enjoy your bubbles in celebration.

Congratulations! I have been reading your blog for years but don't comment often. This is just the occasion I have been waiting for! The format of your blog is so helpful! It gets the reader thinking about how to develop their own wardrobe. By taking the typical element of just "showcasing" a curated wardrobe, and in many times just a "marketing" wardrobe, out of the blog it feels real!! It feels attainable. I love that I start to see the same clothes in a few posts and then know I could commit to their versatility. I even committed to an Hermes scarf (Etude pour in Iris arc-en-ciel) after reading your posts, since I knew I had already built the wardrobe (navy and grey with some pops of pink) for it!! I am closely following your monthly wardrobe post now looking for gaps. Thank you so much!!!

Wow! I echo the chorus! Your blog is my favorite in any category and I am grateful for your teaching. Almost two years ago now during my cancer episode, I lost 50 pounds and needed a who,e new wardrobe. I took your advice and chose two neutrals navy and khaki with Aqua and blue and decided to buy quality instead of quantity and formed a simple 4 X 4 whatever's clean wardrobe for the summer. I also decided to get only items I loved. I still wear these and having them has helped me keep the weight off. My wardrobe has expanded a bit but I still only buy what I love and what will last. So you have been not only an inspiration every day (!) but also you have changed my life. I can't thank you enough. I love you. Janice Collins, Washington DC

Congratulations, Janice! I couldn't be happier for you. I've been a reader ever since you started your blog and even back in they day when you would post to the French Chic Yahoo! group. I've always enjoyed your posts no matter where they appeared. So happy for you!

Congratulations, Janice! Definitely well deserved as everyone else has already said. You've taught me so much and I often repeat lessons learnt from you on my own blog. albeit with my own slant as an over 60 blogger. I'm toasting you with a cup of tea for now, but it will be a glass of vino tinto later on!

Congratulations – this is well deserved. I am, at this very moment, traveling in France and this morning, thanks to you, I was able to get dressed to comfortably survive an unseasonably cold, rainy day. When I pulled out my grey sweater this morning, I actually thought of you with gratitude because I would not have packed it before I began obsessively reading your blog.
Lesley says
Heartfelt congratulations! Your blog is the first thing I look for every morning. There is always something to learn from you and my fellow readers.

Well done, Janice!! I second all of the above comments!
I returned this week from a weeks vacation with my decidedly unstuffed carryon of clothes that had all be worn (and re-worn), and breezed past other travelers with their mountains of suitcases…sweet satisfaction!
My closet is a work in progress, but there is a method to the madness now, and a better understanding of having classic pieces that earn their spot and support the persona that I choose to present to the world.
Congratulations and thank you thank you thank you!!

I do not remember how I stumbled upon your blog, but I have been an avid follower for years and learned so much that I put into good use just about every day whether I get dressed for work or not. Your style of blogging speaks to me as it addressess clothing in a straightforward manner. As an added bonus, I have learned to look at paintings in completeley different manner.

Congratulations! You really deserve it. Yours is the only fashion blog I read every day. You don´t show how you dress, you help your readers to dress themselves. Most of the fashion blogs just scream "Look at me!"

Congratulations! I love your blog, especially the stories of the various heroines. Their differing characters gives scope for a whole range of styles and approaches, unlike most fashion blogs which are limited to the taste of one person (although I still love to get glimpses of your personal favourites!)

I second all of the above, Janice. Your approach is empowering. Your "voice" is that of a kind and completely well intentioned friend. You address the conundrums of the wardrobe both seriously and playfully. Well done!

Well deserved! Drinking espresso in your honor, as I type.
Most blogs, on any topic are mainly self-absorbed navel-gazing. They could cut to the substance in about 1/3 the words they use, and I don't need to know that someone wears Clark's shoes because their great-grandmother was British. You cut to the chase and give usable information. Much of it I've internalized over the years and it informs my packing. (Much of it has caused me to buy way more scarves than I should, but obviously, I need them.) Brava to you!

Cheers! I read every post you write. My wardrobe is coming together and I just flew with a carry-on for a two week trip! I share your love of travel, black clothes, and the cold!

A huge thank you from me for mentioning me as one in the Feedspot's top 100. When I got that message from Feedspot I thought it wasn't legit haha. I thought "That can never be true".
You mentioning my blog in this post drove a lot of people to me to check me out. Even if it is only a hobby of mine, I do treat blogging very seriously. So again, thank you.

You deserve it! This is the only clothing blog I'm reading now. I don't care for "trends" or "fashion" in current definitions. I'm looking for timeless, which you have. All mags and most blogs are "top xx things you should have in your closet," or "must be in your capsule wardrobe," and always black and white, with no intent to show you fundamentals. All they want to do is "promote me! look at me! be like me!" You are not. Thank you for your work!
