Some things don’t change much through time – over the weekend, we saw lots of women accenting solid black outfits with well-chosen metallic accessories. These kinds of outfits always catch my eye!

The clothes from this post are absolutely ageless and timeless; if you keep your eyes open for metallic accessories (or an accent color?) that you love, you’ll instantly have an outfit that can wear forever, or until it falls apart! And that should be our goal – to use things fully and well, and retire them when they’ve been worn as much as possible. Anything less doesn’t do justice to our time, nor or budget, nor to the planet.

You had me with the black shift! So enjoyed this 2013 post. Simply stylish. Your talk-through of the dress with simple jewellery had me yearning for a sunny day to get out my black linen shift and do some low key snazzing (love your snazzy word!). Inspirational!
I bought a pair of flat, gold sandals 10 years ago for a summer wedding. They just keeping going and going. They are comfortable and dressy and have been just right for so many outfits over the years. Now if only I could find a replacement pair that I liked as much ( now that they're showing their age).
The metallic and black does look very good!
I have always liked capsule wardrobe and wardrobe planning books/articles etc, and I have really enjoyed your blog, I think I've read back through every post now! In all the bits I've read there seemed to be something that didn't feel right, and this week it finally dawned on me. Most plans or stories about how people discovered capsules seem to start with the desire to spend less money and have less clothes. I'm starting without much money, but also without much by way of clothes. I'm not a great shopper, and since my weight has changed over the last two years or so, my wardrobe has either worn out or doesn't fit at all.
So what I need from a capsule wardrobe/wardrobe plan is a licence to spend money, though not a lot of money to get enough clothes that co-ordinate well enough, that I can deal with most situations without feeling dowdy and out of place. Easier said than done, but I think I know what I need at least!!
Thank you for your blog. There is a wealth of information in it that satisfies my inner planner (even if my life isn't really lived like that on the whole!).
