She traveled back in January with a warm, simple, but at the same complex wardrobe. That sounds silly, and like an oxymoron, but there’s more going on here than will meet the casual, careless eye…
She’s traveling again, with a wardrobe that looks uncomplicated, but which includes 2 neutrals and 3 accent colors…
The key here is that all of her accent colors will work equally well with olive green or deepest charcoal grey…
It’s such an eclectic, but harmonious, little capsule wardrobe…
All of her tops go equally well with her 2 neutrals, giving 2 somewhat different… moods? to these garments. Of course it doesn’t hurt that the olive ensembles include that utility jacket!
She let’s the people who don’t pay attention just go on about their way. Every now and then, someone notices her complexities, and THEN…
love,
Janice

Love the painting. Love the colours. And love that our minds are in sync – I was only thinking today that it's time to break out a utility jacket or two. And after reading this, I definitely will! Hugs, x

Hi Janice, this is beautiful! A little question: did you use Polyvore for you sets and if so do you have a backup plan now that it has shut down? Keep up the good work xx

I use PowerPoint – part of Microsoft Word's Office package! It has tools for removing the background from images, and I can easily move things around, re-size them, add text – pretty much anything that I'm likely to do with an image. I can then save all of the images for any particular post and keep them together forever, or until my computer loses them…
hugs,
Janice

Janice,
If I wore gray, I would combine the original post with this one. ! For me, the grays become brown and tan . Olive green is so versatile !

This is lovely and interesting. It gives me some good ideas for packing for an upcoming long weekend in Chicago. It's a "warmer" version of a travel wardrobe you so kindly put together for me back in May 2015, for a trip to France. (Which I appreciated very much, and which I used again and again, with seasonal tweaks, for later trips!)
(Btw, anybody here have a rec for nicest hotel convenient to Art Institute/Field Museum? I've been perusing the VF archives to remind myself of things I might be able to check out in Chicago, but haven't settled on a hotel. My relatives *live* in the area, so of course don't *stay* in downtown Chicago hotels, so have no personal advice for me on that score.)

The Alise Chicago – a friend of mine works in the lobby restaurant. The building is historic, it's right on State Street and thus convenient to pretty much everything, and if you tell me when you're in town, we can have breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails, dinner…
hugs,
Janice

I believe my husband got a deal at Virgin (same convenient area) and has already booked, but I very much appreciate the rec. And thank you for the invitation to meet – I'm afraid this time the weekend is pretty much booked up – family reunion stuff – but I will be back to Chicago in future, and would certainly enjoy meeting you! (So I can personally convey my closet's thanks for all your good advice and ideas.)
