I often wonder about having a wardrobe that is essentially just two colors; for literally decades, I wore only black and white. That might be a bit stark now, but shades of grey, and shades of burgundy/pink? Hmm…
This heroine’s 20-piece wardrobe from the last installment is the kind of thing that I would pack and run with for months… Sigh…
When our heroine saw that Eileen Fisher was offering graphite linen pieces, she was sold! Although the vest and pants are linen, there’s really NO reason (except warmth) that they can’t be worn all year. The vest has a lot of potential over shirts, tee shirts, on its own…
And who could resist the French lilac top and the floral scarf?
earrings – Kendra Scott; tank top – Lands’ End; scarf – Elizabetta; graphite linen vest – Eileen Fisher; French lilac sleeveless top – Eileen Fisher; graphite linen pants – Eileen Fisher; sandals – Birkenstock
Her wardrobe doesn’t look different at all. And that’s kind of the point of having a clear plan – you always look like yourself!
Our heroine’s Weekly Timeless Wardrobe looks sort of logical; I’m always surprised that we don’t have more Winter garments, given that we start these wardrobes at the Winter holidays!
But of course, we have to buy what’s available, and by the time the new year rolls around, stores offer us warm weather clothes.
I’m particularly smitten with this month’s outfits for this wardrobe; I think that the linen vest looks great over a long-sleeved tee shirt, with jeans or warmer pants:
Similarly, if the weather’s not bitter cold, dark linen pants could have mileage far beyond the beach!
Another thing I was thinking about – you can certainly wear your summer tops under other things to get more use from them. You just have to remember to try it, to see if it works for you:
And this color is just pretty!
Yes, this could tempt…
love,
Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, John Singer Sargent inspired a summer long weekend wardrobe in camel and blue.

The French lilac scarf is absolutely lovely.
Another lovely wardrobe. Most of my clothing is year around because I do a lot of layering. I find the divide more with color than anything. Darker clothes in winter, lighter in summer. Having learned my lesson with wearing only shades of purple with black for a couple of years I don’t know if this would be enough color for me, but I do love it and the simplicity is nice.
Those lilac accents are lovely. The look back at the John Singer Sargent is close to my wardrobe now … too funny.
I love the colour scheme but not sure about dark grey in summer. Wishing you a safe journey to the Emerald Isle.
This wardrobe is lovely and would be great for a trip. By the way have a fabulous time!! Regarding linen to those who are not sure or if you are looking. J Jill has great 100% linen pieces every year and comes in a range of sizes. I get a long sleeved button up every year. The older ones look just as good as the new. Poetry in the UK also has some beautiful pieces. I’ve looked but not ordered as I can find similar stateside. I iron initially and steam between wearings. But I like to iron. Embrace the wrinkles it’s linen! Cool to wear, and wears forever.
ak is correct, that scarf is lovely.
