Probably my favorite painting, if not necessarily my favorite wardrobe; my favorite wardrobe changes hourly!
She’s pretty well stocked with tops – basic and not!
And yes, she already has THREE dresses, as well as a matching blouse and skirt…
She has all of the best scarves, and I covet her earrings…
Her shoes and bags cover her needs pretty thoroughly…
But this is – hands down – the heroine with the dressiest life. And she’s facing a daunting onslaught of holiday activities, including quite a few that are work-related!
So she’s getting what she needs. A suit, two dressy tops, metallic flats, and festive jewelry! She’s going to sort out what she’s wearing for EACH event, and live with it through to the New Year… No second-guessing!
She’s clearly got a few outfits possible from JUST her new purchases, but let’s see what other options she has:
Does anybody else have absolutely jammed, dressy schedules coming up? Back in the 80s I felt like the entire decade was one long party, but these days my friends don’t splash out like this…
love,
Janice
p.s. Ten years ago, I started with one of the most beautiful paintings I’ve ever shown on The Vivienne Files. I’m not convinced that it’s great for a wardrobe, but it’s so lovely…

I am just completely enamored of this pink and orange. I love that you’ve added in the grounding effect that black has too! As someone who just can’t wear an all white look, and only rarely wears white pants even in summer (German Shepherds’ feet prints happen in five minute), I truly appreciate subbing in the black.
I own last year’s version of the embellished J. Crew blouse and I can attest that it’s well made and surprisingly adaptable. Last year, I wore it with dark denim, a black sweater vest and a big, plaid shawl to a casual holiday gathering. It transforms more casual outfits!
Thank you, Janice. I hope you are starting to feel a bit better. Ribs just take FOREVER.

Lots of pretties! Pink and orange (not Halloween orange, ugh) give the wardrobe a freshness. I suppose a dark wash denim would work as well as the black pieces.
Take care, rest, and let other folks wait on you hand and food.

Was going to comment on the clothes but it just feels frivolous today.

I fully and completely understand. Everybody is going to move forward in their own way, at their own pace. As it should be.

Best advice I’ve read/heard is to embrace your community. Spend time together. Be kind.

I love the pink and orange together so much! I find myself wondering if I could work them or even something brighter like persimmon or magenta into my mostly blue, green, and teal wardrobe. I’ve been dressing even brighter than usual to cheer myself up in these dreary days, but I’ve gotten so many compliments that I’m starting to think of it as a public service in cheering others up, too! 😁

Go for it! I also have loved wearing the brights and we just entered into what we here in the PNW call “the dark days”

I’m in the PNW too. Maybe all the gray has something to do with my love of bright colors!

I wouldn’t have believed you if you’d told me this the first of the year, but I’m becoming quite fond of combining pink and orange. This particular wardrobe way way to dressy for my purposes, but I still enjoy and appreciate the various outfits and combinations. Thank you!

Would it be possible to find an orange sweater for this wardrobe? I think it would get a lot of use! Love these colors together, even though I am not a pink person.

Your choice of scarves just wows me. Even though I’m another PNW gal, where we’re pretty sporty, this is great inspiration for my dressier occasions. Pretty, sparkly snowflakes really will take you through the holidays up to spring! I hope the ribs are much better.

Kate Spade has an adorable orange and pink small crossbody bag that our heroine might like to put on her Christmas wish list.
