It Won’t Be Warm Enough to Swim…
It’s normally a place that one thinks of visiting in the absolute dead of hot weather… so they’re going now!
And while they won’t be able to swim, the weather will still be MUCH warmer than what they’re used to – sunny days, breezy nights. Sandals and even shorts will be comfortable, so long as the wise woman has a sweater or long-sleeved top close at hand…
Thus, she’s going to wear white! Her legs look great in white shorts – at least she believe them to be lovely. And she so longs for the bright, crisp freshness of white, after a long winter of black wool…
Sky. Sun. Green plants. Her accent colors are so obvious!
They will dine out – nothing over the top, but still nice, and romantic. They will hold hands a lot…
She knows, just by looking in her bag, that she will be able to get dressed without even really thinking; that appeals to her – she’s ready to just feel for a few days, and leave the thinking to her “real” life.
Maybe, by the time they get home, there will be crocuses peeping up in the garden?
love,
Janice

Stunning pieces today. I would love this bar the yellow. Yellow is not so good for me.

I wear colors like this year round. Any time. Any place. My complexion takes quite a bit of color saturation. I would wear a winter coat in any of those colors. (Classic cut, of course.)
That painting is striking as well. Imagine how wonderful It would be to have that hanging in your home to lift your mood in mid-winter. And you know how some art museums adapt an artist’s work to offer scarves in their gift shops? I’d grab that!!!

A few years ago this would have been me. Without all the white though, my neutral was navy. I would still add the green, but have been passing on yellow. So really, not like this at all!😂 I do find I’m really attracted to this color scheme, just not for me personally. Might think about those green pieces though…… Happy Valentine’s Day. I hid little ducks with heart shaped eyes around the library before I left last night. I love love love watching the students look for the hidden treasure.

There is too much white for me, just as there was too much ivory in the wardrobe on Monday. I could easily create a three colour wardrobe without any reference to white or ivory, other than possibly a white/ivory tee/top/shirt. This is the way I dress year round. I have a handful of white/ivory tops and I rarely wear them. White/ivory is an accent colour for me (which sounds weird). Today for instance, my entire outfit comprises shades of purple (no surprise there!)
I would begin with a patterned dress/skirt and top/shirt that combine the three colours – probably floral. Then I’d add in top/bottom and second layers in the individual colours. One of the second layers would be a jacket. White would be limited to a short sleeve top worn in between the second layer and bottom colours or it would have a colour trim/decoration or be the white base for another patterned top or cardigan (I do like patterned knitwear). I would find scarves and beads that combined at least two of the colours. Monday’s blue and green scarf would fit.
I don’t wear shorts as they don’t suit me – more’s the pity. Our heroine will need a fake tan before displaying her legs in February, however lovely they might be.

I also would be looking to anchor my capsule with a print garment that combines the colors, and floral is one of my favorites also. To me, a two-piece dress/matching set in a floral print would be absolutely gorgeous here, and it would support all the different color combinations possible in this capsule. At the very least I’d like to see a multi-color print T-shirt or a scarf because I am more a color integrator than a color blocker. This heroine is definitely on the color blocker end.
Actually, I could probably just wear whatever version of this capsule you put together, Beth T. I agree with all the choices you list!

I agree with you.
I have more patterned clothes in my closet instead of plain ones. Especially often leaves and flowers. If I don’t wear scarves, the clothing can be noticeable.
And when Janice introduces a capsule, I just add the patterned pieces to it in my mind. In this case I have a great floral yellow/white/black shirt.

I live on Hilton Head Island and this is our weather! This months the days are in the 50’s and 60’s, and the nights are in the 40’s. I love this weather because by June it’ll be 100+ with the heat index!

I adore the white base! I would really like to expand the white core in my wardrobe sometime soon. The accents look amazing with it too. But on someone else lol. I can’t support the saturation. If all of these colors were softly muted it would be perfect though!

These colors are just so bright and lively on a dreary February day! I love these combos and how they bring some life to the winter. I’d totally wear the brights in warmer pieces right now, perhaps with a darker neutral due to all the mud, and smile every time I saw myself!

I’m in Michigan. No crocuses, but my snow drops are in full bloom, and daffodils are 3″ out of the ground on the sunny side of the house. Spring is coming!

I can and do wear lots of white especially in the summer. I love the blue and probably have that lurking somewhere in my wardrobe. I have similar to most of these green pieces from apple green to emerald. Yellow, no not for me I would swop that for navy. Done job. I have snowdrops, crocus and daffodils flowering in my garden. Spring is just around the corner and I haven’t worn my new coat yet.

I love what you do with colors and capsule wardrobes and I like to use them to look for things that would suit me. The colors in this painting would look great on me, so I wish you would have chosen clothes in Kelly green to match the painting, rather than the washed out sea greens you showed. I would also love it if you showed more clothing in warmer tones in general.
Janice says
I thought that the clothes were pretty bright green – at least on the Lands’ End site! It’s so hard to know how colors are going to look on everyone’s computers…

Looks kelly/emerald on my monitor.

I love these looks. So sunny! I could not wear any yellow near my face but that’s a work-around.
Thank you for the narrow shoe suggestions. I think I need to check out Zappos. I do order from Nordstrom’s but they quickly run out of 9AA. Deby from indy are you buying them up? lol.

These are great for me…love the green and yellow. I might tone down the blue a bit. For the ladies hunting mixed pieces, try the pottery floral from Talbots. The scarf is lovely and the cardi is on a dark blue background. I passed on the cardi, but did get the scarf and plan for it to be a major accessory item in 24.

Beautiful choices as always – thanks! I did find the painting’s title jarring, however, especially from an artist who appears to be caucasian… Did you find anywhere that he discussed the choice of title for this painting?
Janice says
I thought of that too – I don’t know anything about how this was named… Glad to know that I’m not the only person so sensitive to these things!

Janice
