Big news – my dear friend Scottie is having a sale on her scarves! Get thee to her website right now to see the possibilities!
A lovely, if deeply enigmatic, painting:
That wee geometric thingy on the breast of the white swan… Hmm…
At the end of February, this heroine had a pretty and very useful wardrobe:
This heroine decided to really emphasize spring clothes this month! Maybe she wears a size that’s hard to find, or maybe she’s been burned in the past by having things sell out that she really liked! And she decided to break out with a pure white top – she’s not afraid of wearing white with ivory…
Feather earrings – Dower & Hall; white pintucked top – Lands’ End; black picot trim tee – Lands’ End; tote bag – Marhen.J; cardigan – Alex Mill; espadrille mules – Toms; lightweight jeans – Lands’ End
Her new additions make a big difference this month! Adding a pair of pants that aren’t dark makes a lot of difference, doesn’t it?
To look at this heroine’s Weekly Timeless Wardrobe template, she could live somewhere that doesn’t have a true winter season. Or maybe those are the clothes that she dislikes the most!
And as always, our heroine’s choices offer her a lot of new ways to get dressed. Good shopping should do that…
I really like this wardrobe – even though it’s chock full of black, it doesn’t resemble my wardrobe in any way! That’s fascinating…
love,
Janice

p.p.s. Ten years ago, a Tom Thomson painting is where we started when we built a brown-centered wardrobe with red and violet accents! Really!

Great.
I’m looking forward to the brown that will be added to the capsule, even if it’s just the accessories for now. I will never only wear neutral colors. Looking back are more my colors.
If I were to select my 52 pieces using the grid, there are thirteen colors that can all be combined with each other.🌈
Such a pretty, neutral palette. I truly find this particular shade of pale blush to be a neutral. But, as a magpie, who wears lots of bright colors, that may just be my own interpretation.
I’d love the see the blush emphasized in a skirt, pants or a dress too. It’s really quite lovely and can be worn year ’round!
That being said, I don’t mind white and ivory together. I think they’re lovely, and if you can get them JUST far enough apart, it doesn’t look like you are trying to match and missing. It’s a delicate dance, isn’t it? Now, that being said, I rarely wear white on the bottom…not because I’m afraid of looking bigger, but because I have two enormous German Shepherds and live near the sea. I would have muddy paws on my pants in less than five minutes. I’m sure this is not a concern for most women.
I have a miniature schnauzer and paw prints on anything light, including white tshirts! Especially now, in mud season. Very difficult to get out! (The stains, not the dog.)
I agree that the pale blush can work as a neutral, giving this wardrobe an all-neutral look to me…ready for accent colors to be added. The pretty stained glass scarf is already in place to lead the way.
I really love all those colors together. It’s inspiring to see the possibilities, because I can assemble all of those clothes right from my very wardrobe, which usually is not the case for me on the VF, although it’s so much fun to look at everything that comes from your brain to us! Thank you, as usual, Janice!
I love this wardrobe. It’s similar to my own….so sophisticated in the colours and the feel of it.
This is beautiful. Not enough color for me, personally, but doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate it. You’ve outdone yourself this year!
I really enjoy this painting! So artistic and unusual. I’m ‘playing along’ this year by picking out a few wardrobes along with you inspired by your art choices. My wardrobe on this painting is the most radically different from your selections! So interesting! I’m absolutely more maximalist than minimalist and I love color, so that’s a large part of it. I enjoy this series so much and appreciate all the work and thought you put into it!
So good that you reverted to the inspiration of wonderful paintings – inspiring.
Love this. Like idajo I’m playing along with a few of the paintings, and this is my favorite. It is fun to see my clothes and the differences in style texture etc. mammasquirrel had a nice interpretation going for the Delauney. Yes the work you put into it is awesome and much appreciated.
Love ivory and white together and this wardrobe is more appealing to me more now than when it was dominated by black. I tend to like neutrals and reserve bright colours for scarves and a t-shirt or two in summer. I am a bright spring, but prefer neutral, classic clothes (isn’t that always the way!). I think all the wardrobes are beautiful, but am enjoying this one and the Bertha Lum for colours and clothing choices. Really enjoy the series and the work you do! Thank you.
So simple and elegant. The pink adds a touch of joy.
I should wear ivory a lot more than I do but it is a stain magnet for me. I have been quite successful with getting stains out of white and ivory tee-shirts by tackling the stain from both sides of the fabric before washing.
I got distracted by the wee geometric thingy! I read somewhere that it represents a hook and eye, used as a symbol for joining. But appropriate to this blog too!
Love this wardrobe. I’d just need to not wear the black from top to bottom and break it up near my face. It’s too overwhelming for my coloring.
I love this wardrobe the most I think. It is dissimilar to my own so I would never have guessed that at the beginning of the year. I mostly don’t wear white-white and not much cream but it is just so lovely it makes me want to build a capsule along these lines even if it isn’t an entire wardrobe.
I am way behind and finally catching up on emails now that I’m more or less settled in my new home. I just had to comment on the tote bag for this month. Janice, you really captured the lines of the swans with this bag. Well done!
Thanks for noticing – I spend a lot of time finding just the right accessories, if they exist!
hugs,
Janice
