I’m currently losing the fight with Ozempic – I’ve surrender, in fact. I think I’m happier being pudgy than I am being relentlessly nauseated…
But I was able to look at a couple of scarves that I really like, and to find some other accessories to give each scarf a family of companions!

Scarf – Artifact.; labradorite bracelet – Amadeus; African turquoise earrings – Rare Matters Jewelry; 3 jade rings – oanasavu.creations; amethyst pendant – A Weathered Penny; raffia mules – Dolce Vita; sling bag – The Sac
Silk scarf – The Met Store; earrings – Talbots; flower brooch – The Met Store; aventurine necklace – The Met Store; floral sandals – Børn; bag – Mellow World
I think it’s safe to assume that some of these accessories could go with both scarves.
Can you picture these with a pretty beige dress? Or a crisp white shirt and capri pants?
What clothes would you wear with these?
love,
Janice
p.s. Ten years ago, our business travel wardrobe was a taupe/grey, with pink, light blue and white…

Janice, bought the beautiful Sage purse and picked up the Grey one, too. Perfect for the Spring holiday. All of these accessories are perfect. Love this ✨💖💫
Have I already told you that I love gemstone jewelry?! 🤩
I would wear a gray dress or light green/lilac top with beige pants.
The colors make you want summer. There is still snow here, but spring is supposed to come next week.
These accessories are so beautiful. I can see wearing them with white, or beige, lilac, or sage. Blush pink might work or maybe a soft coral. I wish I felt comfortable wearing scarves but I feel like I’m playing dress up. I’ve just recently begun to get comfortable wearing my mother’s pearls.
I hope you’ll do more of these posts. As you have shown us, accessories make the wardrobe.
For me, I think a core of white, navy, and beige would work splendidly with both of these looks.
Thanks for these.
Lovely accessories! Especially the first set, and the flower motif in the second. Faded denim or light grey would be my choice. I agree with Jeri b. More accessories posts, please. I pretty much have my basics set, but my accessories need work! A lot, actually…
Just finished reading The Secret Life of Fat by Sylvia Tara. Very illuminating!
First of all, Janice, I’m so sorry about the Ozempic nausea. I’ve been tempted to try it. I’m a standard size 8, so my doc doesn’t feel it would be quite right for me, but I’d like to feel a bit more comfortable in my own body. I’m leaning into my curves right now.
Onto the pose, I just love this pretty and soft collection of accessories. While I do tend to lean heavily into brighter accents, I am attracted to the romance of these pieces. I think they’d all be gorgeous with chambray or denim, as well as pieces that will be pick up on the tones in the inspiration scarves. On a daily basis, I see these pieces with a nice fitting pair of khakis and a romantic white blouse.
That being said, I found two pretty dresses at Talbots that I think would also harmonize with this collection. What do you all think?

Love-love-love the Artiquel scarf! I printed your What Something Pretty? post when you used this scarf Dec 18/24. I am using these colors as my accent this spring. Please, please consider using it next year for your 12 months series!!
What gorgeous accessories ! Particularly the scarves and the raffia mules . I’d probably wear these accessories with a gray dress but could see them going well with jeans and a classic white button-down shirt . I’m going to see if there are any similar mules available here in the UK as not buying from the US at present
My magpie mentality loves both of these sets!
Lovely. Both feel like spring time
So Springy!!! I love it. In my head this would be for my aunt, paired with flowy white tunic and flowy white trousers; that combo would wash me out. I think I’d pair it with a bright navy column.
I’d love a full conversation about Ozempic: pros, cons, implications for society, how it has changed the discussion/mood around weight/health/vanity/etc. A nice, open minded, frank discussion of all aspects, without judging or attacking or feeling judged or attacked. This probably isnt the right place for it, although it is the best group of people I “know” to have a respectful conversation. Because this community rocks :)
Happy Friday all!
Love the accessories. I’m on Ozempic for diabetes and have had some weight loss. 18 months. I took anti nausea meds when needed at first. Things settled out. Good luck.
These are so pretty, Janice! My sister tried both Ozempic and Wegovy and couldn’t tolerate either. In fact, they gave her pancreatitis and her doc told her never to try them again. Everybody is different.
I’ve been hospitalized for autoimmune pancreatitis four times, so even though I’m a bit plump and am occasionally tempted to try Ozempic, the risks outweigh the potential benefits for me (no pun intended).
Definitely I’d avoid it in your case! I’ve had pancreatitis once and was miserable.
I wear navy year-round so I could happily use that as a base (plus white, lavender and pale greens) for accessories in today’s pallet.
I sighed when I saw today’s thumbnail – it’s such a gorgeous colour combination and it reminds me that Spring will be here in a few weeks. I live in Atlantic Canada so I must have reasonable expectations.
So pretty! I would wear these with a white or cream or grey lace dress? These really feel so appropriate for a spring or summer wedding.
Sorry about your experience with Ozempic.
What a perfect post to go with my Friday morning coffee. Lovely accessories, very soft and romantic. I am watching the sun rise over the tops of the snow covered hills and i see birds in the garden which means spring is not far away now. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Love both of these, though none of them would really go with my current colors. Love the idea of these with a crisp white shirt and capris. I’d also love to see them with a lovely flowy skirt, maybe crinkly gauze? Definitely could be the basis of a “resort wear” travel capsule or inspiration for a full spring/summer wardrobe.
Good luck with Ozempic. I am currently trying to lose weight the old fashioned way but I’ve been struggling for years. My doctor and I finally had a conversation around the entire portfolio of weight-loss drugs and her advice was to try one more time but start lifting weights. We’ll check in again in about six months and if I’m still stuck, I may have to go on something. So far I’m down 5 lbs but stalled again. Womp womp.
Stalling out – I swear it is an everyone problem. One thing to look at: physical measurements (not just weight) like inches around your arm or chest etc. My sister and I are very different that way – my weight fluctuates a TON based on … the wind? whether I winked at someone or not? what i had for dinner? you get the picture. My sister’s weight is ROCK SOLID no matter how much she diets or exercises … but her measurements shrink (trimmer tummy, arms, etc). these move much much faster than numbers on a scale for her; so she often gets disheartened that her exercise routine isnt working. It is working, it just takes a while for the scale to catch up (like a 3 month offset). If you think you’re in that category, maybe taking periodic measurements will help you see positive change before the scale catches up. Wishing you best of luck!
Don’t forget that muscle weighs more than fat! Working with weights also helps with bone strength, important as we get older. Keep going!
It can also be worth looking at your age and hormone levels. If you’re perimenopausal or recently menopausal and you’re carrying the weight in your stomach, that is visceral fat associated with the drop in estrogen. Regular diet and exercise isn’t going to budge it; you may have to look at other strategies.
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a good resource for menopausal hormone/weight connection (https://thepauselife.com/)
Those are both great! I have a very plain washable wool dress from Land’s End…think I could wear it right through Spring with either one.
Oops! The dress is Navy
You are the undisputed champion of finding accessories.
Both of these would look lovely with my current wardrobe. I don’t have much in the way of green but it IS the perfect soft, muted, cool shade to work if I were to expand my colors to include this.
Gorgeous!
Also, on the ozempic and weight loss, remember that even if the weight on the scale isn’t changing, your body composition could very well be changing as fat is lost and denser, heavier muscle is gained. Bone density and water might also be “filling in the gap” as well. If you can get ahold of a bmi scale rather than a simple weight scale that can tell you a lot. I have one and I wouldn’t have survived the disappointment of stalls after bariatric surgery without that reassurance.
You can do this!! Hugs and love Janice!
For those on peptide-antagonist drugs like Ozempic or the new migraine drugs, be aware that they also may make your hair fall out. That happened to me on Emgality (for migraines) and my sister (on Ozempic, which she also had to discontinue for nausea).
Nothing wrong with using the drugs if they work for you, but only if they improve your quality of life. If they’re making you too nauseated to function, then forget it.
I’m making peace with my pudge, and embracing the ability to sit down to a meal with an appetite, rather than low-key revulsion. Sometimes, you just have to figure out what’s most important!
love,
Janice
Janice, you have inspired me to make peace with my own pudge, something I had been struggling with. You’re right Some things are more important. Thank you.
I’d love to meet the wardrobe that will go with these accessories. Something floral and feminine.
I have a green scarf with lilac flowers as a starting point. The green would have to have a hint of blue. A pale delicate lilac. Silver grey and ivory would be lovely for soft neutrals.
The African turquoise earrings are most unusual. I’m mentally ticking off similar jewellery pieces that I own.
I read somewhere that doing the same exercise routine makes the body stabilise. Mixing it up or setting new challenges helps. I do a circuits class twice a week. The trainers in one of the classes have just introduced some different exercises with weights. It is quite exhausting.
I am a long time reader and big fan – in fact I have been following your blog for the past 10 years, possibly slightly longer! I have introduced many friends and colleagues to it too.
Just wanted to post today to say how much I enjoy your site and how much I have gained from it over the years.
This is not my colour scheme as I wear warmer colours, but all your selections are beautiful either apart or together as always.
My wardrobe would not be what it is without you. I have learnt so much from this site, from you.
Thank you for all you do! xxxx
I find this very inspiring!
I too gave up on ozempic the nausea and other ill effects were too much. When I read about how it affects your hypothalamus including your sleep/wake cycle and that most of the weight loss on glp1s is from muscle loss I said that’s it. Been off about 3 weeks now and feel so much better. Thanks for all you do on this blog!
I lost a ton of weight during the early days of the pandemic. I work with the public, and didn’t realize how much stress I internalized despite loving my job until we were closed to the public for fifteen months. I celebrated my healthy weight loss with a new wardrobe, plus a few loves I had tucked away from my last round of weight loss. I then donated every.last.one of my larger clothes.
Big mistake. Big! Huge! It took less than a year to regain almost all of the weight. I’m back to following my weight loss guru (a fitness trainer who specializes in menopausal women), but I must still be eating my stress because the scale hasn’t budged in six months. I am healthy, and am trying to make peace with how I look, but I cringe every time I look in the mirror.
The women I know who tried Ozempic lost the buccal fat in their cheeks, and there’s no replacing that. Then, when they stopped taking it, gained the weight back.
These accessories are so beautiful for spring! If I could only turn the color up a little to aqua and hyacinth instead of being quite so muted, they’d be perfect!
On another note, after many years of struggling, including a pretty serious ED in my teen years, I’m trying to embrace body neutrality and focus on what it does functionally rather than how it looks. My goals are now around what I want to be able to do with my body (i.e. walk 5 miles without being exhausted) rather than a specific weight or size.
I really like this approach. We need our body to grow old with us, go on holiday with us, laugh with us, get us through our working day. How it looks shouldn’t really be a priority. How it works however should be crucial. Thanks for a great reminder.
