They spend Boxing Day cleaning up. And on the 27th, they’re in the car early in the morning, heading SOUTH!
She’s dreaming of the Winter Sky, but the sunny winter sky where they go every year for a while – just to avoid the worst of the cold and snow…
This year, she’s inspired by these:
She has some clothes down there already – no reason to bring them back north! But she has new colors in mind to expand her existing wardrobe of navy, beige, white and bright green:
It’s not bitterly cold where they are right now, so she doesn’t have to bundle up all that much the first morning… But she loves feeling cozy for the first day of the drive…
Earrings – Aleure Precioso; cashmere tunic – Lands’ End; scarf – Scarves by Franci; jacket – Alex Mill; suitcase – Swiss Mobility; bracelets – Fierce Lynx Designs; grey sweatpants – Lands’ End; sneakers – Taos Footwear
She packs some warm-ish things, and some cool-ish things – she’s pretty adept at layering, re-layering, and un-layering, as necessary…
Cobalt blue hooded sweatshirt – Lands’ End; lapis earrings – Barse; scarf – Jessie Zhao New York; white cardigan – Lands’ End; pearl earrings – Ginger Lyne Collection; grey cashmere sweater – J.Crew; grey & white tees – J.Crew; striped shirt – Lands’ End; lapis pendant – Caribbean Treasures; blue print tee – Lily Pulitzer; white shorts – Lands’ End; pearl pendant – Astor & Orion; floral dress – Lands’ End; white jeans – L.L.Bean; white sandals – ABEO; tote bag – L.L.Bean; silver sandals – Calvin Klein
Her complete travel capsule wardrobe will give her options if they run into cold drizzle or blazing sun!
She runs through a range of outfits, to make sure that she’s not missing anything, and that she will be appropriately dressed for anything from the 50s to the 80s… Fahrenheit, not year!
She’s going to run her driving sunglasses out to the car glove box RIGHT NOW…
love,
Janice

What a nice surprise! I was thinking there would be no new posts while you are away. This is a super wardrobe for a getaway. Or, actually, for a few weeks or so down here in the south. I may have to look into this for my January capsule.
Thanks, Janice. I hope you have an amazing time in Paris.
Well, I just clicked “add to cart” for the charming blue and white dress. I am not even going anywhere warm this winter, but I can’t wait to wear it next Spring and Summer. Such a delightful pattern and such a flattering cut for a warm weather dress!
I hope that Paris is magnifique!
Perfect capsule. I think our heroine is going to get a lot of mileage from that dress. The LlBean totes are fabulous. Iconic, actually.
I saw the bracelet and thought the wardrobe would be similar to Elizabeth Magill shades of blue painting in “2024 Six Paintings – 12 Months”. However it is completely different! As someone who has created a blue-based wardrobe and is now at a natural transition point (I’ve moved to a MUCH smaller closet! Yikes!) I’m inspired to see something almost the same AND different at the same time. You keep surprising me on this blog and I should stop being surprised that I’m surprised! Thank you and enjoy gay Paree!
Perfect for my spring trip to the Carolina’s coast. It won’t be scorching, but warmer than here in Kentucky. The bracelet might be a great present for my birthday.
And if you’re a Wildcat fan you would get a lot of mileage out of the bracelets or anything in this wardrobe really.
Lovely wardrobe for warmer weather. Not for this girl as I am white avoidant.. I don’t think switching out navy would have the same whappage. Great for someone who can wear the clean clear colors. Looks like a summer sky.
Hi Janice – hope you are having a very fun time in Paris (of course, hard not to!). This heroine must be Canadian as she leaves on Boxing Day! So fun.
And sorry – I do have to say that I hope Canadians will not travel south and spend their money in the US – it is so insulting that the President-elect feels it appropriate to talk about our country becoming the 51st state with our Prime Minister able to serve as “Governor”. And then tries to pass it off as a “joke'”. The man has no idea how to act like a world leader.
Brenda, my son lives in Montreal and became a Canadian citizen in January. Canada is a beautiful, diverse country. It’s residents are well educated and enjoy a high standard of living. Canadians have been named the nicest people in the world. Your Prime Minister is a class act. Plenty of other places to spend you vacation dollars. Terribly sorry and embarrassed.
Hi Janice. This is fabulous and reminds me of a wonderful holiday we had in Greece in 2018 😀. Living in the waaay south of Africa we are gearing up for a sunny Christmas with the usual braai (translation = barbeque) , ice-cream, watermelon and poolside drinks. This is just the kind of colour scheme to suit our weather here 🏖
Some really great pieces here. This capsule would slot into the Magill wardrobe well. I think the blue based wardrobe is my favorite. I love denim and own a lot of navy pieces so it would be an easy wardrobe to live with.
I hope you are having a great time in Paris. Thank you for this unexpected gift. And for all your marvelous posts.
I can’t imagine spending the Twelve Days of Christmas in a warm climate. Roast dinner, Christmas Pudding and Mince Pies are all.cold weather food. However,,this bracelet is lovely and could inspire a blue velvet, satin and silver wardrobe for Christmas.
Beth, that sounds like a cozy holiday time! Cheers!
Getting Greek vibes.
Lovely.
