I’m leaving for Paris on Wednesday unless something happens to hold me back. I haven’t been to Paris in five years, which for me feels like half my life… I plan to have posts here for you while I’m away, but bear in mind that I won’t be able to fix stupid mistakes – or smart mistakes! Love, J
Our last installment of our last heroine, assembling a wardrobe that holds a strange appeal to me – the soft earthiness of these colors would be such a comfort each morning…
This heroine, as is true with all of them, currently has 48 garments in her wardrobe. For most of the world, that’s an embarrassment of riches! And – if well chosen – most of us could probably manage with this:
Of course, I SHOULD have been assembling these wee wardrobe clusters with three tops for each bottom. But I like the way the three garments look together…
That means, of course, that she’s got a bunch of extra tops! And a couple of skirts, too.
I’ve been thinking that – if I was this heroine – I would get in touch with the Artifact. people and see if I could just buy all of their scarves… Volume discount? But their sensibility for prints and colors seems to mirror this heroine pretty perfectly!
If you didn’t already know that this heroine spends quite a bit of time outdoors, the fact that she owns a TON of boots might give you a hint!
To nobody’s surprise, our heroine started her shopping with… yes…. wait for it…. ANOTHER Artifact. scarf. Why resist perfection? And since she now has perfect shoes to wear for dressy times, she doesn’t hesitate to grab beige satin pants when she sees them!
Her tops are easy, almost obvious choices for her… And the pinecone brooch is holiday feeling, if only because it could be part of a (brown) Christmas tree. Since this isn’t the red and green-wearing heroine, little touches of wintery fun do not go amiss.
Oh boy, does she have new outfits now!
If I had to start over… but I’d have to swap my purple highlights for light blue ones! I could do that…
Earlier installments of this wardrobe are here:
AND a wardrobe from last November!
love,
Janice
p.s. Ten years ago, I was racing about preparing for Christmas, and seeing beautiful red worn by beautiful women! It’s amazing to remember how differently we all dressed ten years ago; now, it’s all leggings, jeans and sweatpants. The pandemic-prompted working from home has changed us…

Plain perfection! Have a nice Paris, dear Janice!

Another lovely wardrobe. The Artifact scarves are incredible. Have a safe flight and a wonderful trip. I agree wholeheartedly with your statement about the pandemic changing us forever. In so many ways. Thank you!

Agreed about starting over, but I’m not sure I could actually wear these colours as a winter. Have fun in Paris, Janice! We can’t wait to hear all about what you saw.

Be well, stay safe, and have fun in Paris, Janice! Love the cohesiveness in both color and style of this wardrobe. It resonates with me.

Great job with all the wardrobes this year! There are none that I totally dislike; all are intriguing. Most contain items and brands I actually wear so I was able to garner many ideas. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in a fantastically rough year! Maybe Paris bring you a well-deserved calm and warmth and peacefulness 🤗

Janice,
I love this assemblage as well as that of Dans Le Parc. I might use this one in early Spring and early Autumn, merging with Parc as the season gets cooler .
Have a fabulous , safe, and wonderful time in beautiful old Paree !

By far my favorite capsule. 🤩
There is less light blue in my closet and more dark blue, green and brown. (maybe the Eiffel Tower next year✨️) Last week I had a little break and wore these colors.
By the way, I’ve never been to Paris and I live 500 km away.
I wish you a good trip.

I couldn’t wear these colors (except the blue) but like you, I love this wardrobe and find it “restful”. I would, however, make two additions for our outdoorsy heroine. Like the denim shirt, and the white shirt, that you often add to a wardrobe, I would add two pairs of jeans: one in a lighter blue to match the blue in this palette, and one in a darker blue. Not only do denim jeans match almost everything, I think they would be essentials for this heroine.
I hope you have a WONDERFUL time in Paris! I am so looking forward to your missives from there. I haven’t been there since 2016–I need to remedy that but in the meantime will live vicariously through your posts!!! Bon voyage!

Our heroine could definitely add a pair of those hiking pants in an easy-dry fabric. Many of the styles are cut so that the pants can be worn with a nicer top for sightseeing or dinner. The pants are cooler in summer for hiking and can be layered over leggings in cold weather. So practical.

Have a wonderful, wonderful holiday, Janice! Bon vol, and looking forward to the people watching reports!

So much to love about the Artifact scarf, especially the color swatches below which are softer versions of colors I wear. Twenty-four years ago, I was studying houses called “Painted Ladies” to help me choose colors for the circa 1880 house I was in the process of purchasing. So the architecture in the scarf is also appealing. My house colors then and now are light yellow siding, coral trim and accents of turquoise and periwinkle. The colors make people smile.
Happy trails, Janice, for your long overdue Paris voyage. We look forward to reading about the latest trends in Paris.

My 9yo daughter has decided that this would be the perfect wardrobe for my Mum, and I tend to agree! Absolutely not my colours or style, but it hangs so nicely and I adore the inspiration artwork – I would hang a print of it in my bedroom in an instant!
Janice says
Most of the paintings that I use are available as print somewhere, or you could always just have a Kinko’s print you an excellent copy and frame it yourself. It’s not like you would be claiming that you are the artist….
love,
Janice

Have a marvelous trip!!
Love this wardrobe and the scarves are to die for.

Have an incredible and magical time in Paris, Janice. It is definitely a city to inspire.
I agree with the comment above that the six paintings wardrobes have been extraordinarily cohesive, elegant and useful this year.
This one shows the amazing reach of chocolate brown as an anchor/neutral in a wardrobe. And, I love that you found satin pants to include. They can be very comfortable and more versatile than you’d expect under today’s fashion-bending trends. I wear my chocolate brown satin pants with an ivory silk blouse for dressy events, with cashmere sweaters for nice events and with a colorful tee or chambray shirt and sneakers for sharp casual. Tip: the Cariuma sneakers are comfortable on my feet and extraordinarily well-made.

Have a fun and restorative trip!

This wardrobe makes me peaceful somehow. Let s see if there is a color combination that I could follow next year. But first things first -have a safe trip and don’t forget to visit the d’Orsay for inspiration (and a lovely lunch)!

Wishing you safe travels, ease of passage through the airports and no shocking delays. I hope you visit the restored Notre Dame now that it has reopened.
This wardrobe is perfect for the country. I would still add in blue trousers/jeans. I’m still experimenting with blue/brown colour combo.

Happy holidays and bon voyage. Enjoy Paris and have an easy and safe trip. Looking forward to the sightseeing pics.
Not my colours or my style but this wardrobe is calming and serene. The woman who wears this is well prepared for almost any occasion.
Agree with the idea of adding a pair or two of jeans.

What a perfect ending to another year of beautiful wardrobes inspired by art. Thank you for putting such great ideas together. Have a great time in Paris and Happy Holidays.

This wardrobe has been my favorite from the beginning. The softness of it, the cool browns accented in soft blues and greens and highlighted with those lovely beiges is just perfect in my way of thinking. If I were to swap away from navy/light gray/cream/light pink/shades of denim/periwinkle wardrobe, it would be to this. It’s very much like what I used to wear when my hair was still a light auburn brown. Love love love it!
Have a wonderful trip to Paris Janice! You truly deserve this getaway!
Much love and hugs, and thank you for all you do!

Beautiful wardrobe! Not my colors at all, but I love the style. I could base a redo of my wardrobe on the styles but in my colors.
Have fun in Paris! I am a little bit jealous, but I look forward to hearing and seeing all you observe there.
