It’s come to my attention that nobody can leave comments! I don’t know what’s wrong, but I’ve having the smart people look into it… So sorry for the technical difficulties….
love,
Janice
It’s tempting to think that all heroines are strong personalities, with a touch of bright flamboyance around all that they do. But in fact, many of us are quiet, low-key, and don’t get noticed right away! And that’s splendid…
Today’s heroine thinks of herself as a moon, in that she reflects the brighter (but sometimes TOO bright) light of others.
Her painting inspiration for her weekend homecoming trip:
She has soft ashy-colored hair, and light but clear and bright blue eyes; her colors for the weekend will reflect her perfectly:
It’s won’t be terribly cold there – so she’s not worried about a big heavy coat. She will take a hat with her, just in case she has a bad hair day, or she just feels a chill!
Such easy packing – jeans and sweatpants. Sweaters and a sweatshirt, some scarves, a bit of jewelry, and light blue sneakers!
The night before she leaves, she sets everything aside so she can evaluate the balance and coordination of her travel capsule wardrobe. Always wise…
She assembles at least a long weekend’s worth of outfits. It’s not crazy to have an extra sweater with you, or a spare change of undergarments. You never know when you’ll end up staying over an extra day; health concerns, weather, mechanical issues – you never know!
Yes, her friends will look brighter, more eye-catching and vivid. But she will look like herself, and you can’t do better than that…
love,
Janice
p.s. Ten years ago, we jazzed up a Common Wardrobe that was black, grey and denim. Accent colors? Red, bright blue, hot pink and aqua…

This travel wardrobe is perfect for many occasions. If you need something dressier just add a skirt or dress and make it an even ten pieces of clothing.
I enjoy the soft colors. I’ve found, for me, that I prefer travel pictures with the people wearing colors that blend with the scenery more. That way I can identify the site as well as the people.

A lovely restful picture. Does anyone else see a pod of dolphins in that cloud formation?
Anyway, I’ve worn pale blue and light grey a lot this year along with navy and teal blue as part of my blue experiment. However I might swap the creamy beige for taupe or a soft navy/mid/teal blue. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a soft blue handbag. I like the pattern on this one.
I find swapping handbag contents fraught. I often leave things behind so I’m not weighed down if the handbag is not big. This results in objects strewn across several bags initiating a frantic search for something I need just as I’m about to leave the house.

I added a comment earlier which seems to have disappeared.

Janice, glad to see you are feeling (at least a little, hopefully more) better! I’m loving these last few “casual long weekend travel” capsules. I love dressing up when I travel but sometimes that’s just not appropriate – to the weather, the vibe, the casual nature of the trip. I’m taking a girls’ weekend pretty soon, plan on city walking, hiking, and biking – this type of capsule is perfect. I just bought my first sweatshirt EVER (at 40!) – yes I have owned sweatshirts, but they have been gifted/bought for me. I was browsing some shops and saw the cutest (has whappage) sweatshirt with little hedgehogs – such whimsy. As soon as I bought it I started outfit planning in my head – I may take it along for the long weekend trip and pack similar to these capsules!

Thanks for these very practical in today’s world capsules – just because we are dressing casually doesn’t mean it has to be sloppy or un-thoughtful.

That is an adorable sweatshirt!!!

Also – sorry, not sure what is going on, but I can’t see any comments??? (I was surprised I would be “first” but even after I posted I saw nothing. using a chrome browser, tried edge as well; nothing). Not sure if others have this problem, but thought in-case you can see these Janice, i’d let you know.
I love reading everyone’s comments – this is such a fun, vibrant, observant, interesting crowd of people!

I imagine this is a calm person who attracts all kinds of people to her just because she is so calm. The colours reflect her beautifully.

What an amazing capsule. Just beautiful on a person with the right coloring. The Delinor scarf is outstanding. Personally I REALLY like the casual vibe. Thank you Janice.

When I’m in a “light” mood, this is exactly how I dress! Such a beautiful combination.
I hope your ribs are starting to mend well Janice. Hugs and love!

Thanks, Janice! This is right up my alley. I’ve been leaning toward more pale blue, grey and white lately. Right now I’m wearing a white jeans with a pale blue tee and a pale blue chambray shirt. It’s like wearing the sky and the clouds. So soothing.

This capsule is lovely, and exactly how I dress when I’m craving “light but warm” outfits. Beautifully done as always Janice!
I hope you’re getting lots of rest and are mending well. Hugs and love!

Thanks, what a lovely wardrobe. I have gray hair and eyes, so it would suit me.
I’ve been looking for a hat just like this one. I suddenly developed a wool allergy a couple of years ago and couldn’t wear my favorite merino winter beanie any longer. I’ll be ordering the gray hat at your link!

Love everything in this wardrobe. It is so me!! In fact I probably have similar substitutes in my wardrobe now. Thank you Janice, am off to “shop” my wardrobe. It is the way you put everything together so prettily and skilfully for mere mortals like me. Thank you.

Thanks for your kind words – I feel really “sub-mortal” these days…

What a soft, tranquil and peaceful combination! For some reason, I’m always attracted to this vibe In January, after the brights of the holidays. I’m a dark eyed brunette and this works just as well for those of us who have always dreamed of having crisp blue eyes too. Well done, Janice!

Such a beautiful capsule, warm and cozy, the colours are very restful. I am recuperating from surgery and this just made me feel relaxed. Thank you Janice.
I am sorry i got rid of all my sweat pants now as i could use some cozziness.

This is so beautiful! Just change the ivory to the soft grey, add a bit of soft pink and sage green, and I’ll be happy.

I am always so drawn to the wardrobes with the beige neutral. But I don’t think I can wear that color. I do have lots of grey so that’s easy. But I do choose my navy things first. Perhaps I just need to buy a couple of the beige things to see if I really can’t wear that color or if it’s moms voice from long ago. My concern is that I would buy things and then still choose my navy and white first. Perhaps it’s like your black and white, Janice.
