If you’re offended by profanity, approach this post with caution – there is indeed a word printed on this scarf which might disturb…
We’ve heard from a handful of heroines who are looking to wear black with pink, and who want to either be more dressy, or more youthful. Maybe this addresses all sorts of desires!
Here’s the newest Echo 100 scarf:
Yes, you can just fold the bottom left corner in, and nobody will know. Or you can let it fly free and see what happens…
This inspires the easiest of color palettes; while I didn’t include white in any of the outfits, it’s sort of an obvious addition to this scheme:
I’m suggesting outfits that cover a handful of weather conditions and degree of formality; if you don’t mind wearing the same outfits frequently, this might be a great travel wardrobe for a range of destinations.
Conversely, this might be the kind of plan that you want for wearing your new scarf just once a month…
An open-knit sweater and light pants look youthful and snappy with high-tops and a backpack. This is NOT limited to young people – to heck with that!
Here’s an outfit that could be worn to a nice lunch, or any other pretty, warm weather activity…
Talk about a change of mood – a sweatshirt, classic black shirt, jeans and boots always look good with a scarf!
And our heroine’s last outfit is dressy but not prissy nor revealing. One may dress nicely without revealing all sorts of body parts, right?
Here’s our heroine’s 10-piece capsule wardrobe – for travel I’d be looking for a white shirt or tee, some simple black sneakers, and… what would you add? Maybe a black and white striped something? Or a black, white and PINK print?
Even with just these 10 garments, there are some re-mix possibilities:
Setting aside the wording on the scarf (which I could live with – I’d just hide it most of the time!), does pink and black appeal?
I’m surprised how frequently I’ve been asked about it lately…
love,
Janice

What a bizarre scarf? The slogan is baffling. What robots? Why should we save them?
That aside, I like the range of pinks in this wardrobe. However, I would find it limiting to only have pink tops and accessories. I would have to have some white and a print that draws the pinks and black together – probably a floral print. A pink dress or bottom half too.
KIm says
Maybe the designer loves honey dijon mustard and wants robots to make more? It is indeed bizarre!

I googled. It would appear that Save the Robots was a NYC bar. It is also a craft beer and a song.

Wow! Thank you for your research. The scarf makes sense in a weird way.
Janice says
Wow! Thanks for this — that makes it even more interesting. Imagine the stories…

This could definitely be a nice travel wardrobe. I would add a white tee and maybe that black top with the striped ruffle sleeves you showed us a little while back.
Just for information, I bought the Kate Spade flower earrings a week ago after Janice showcased them. They are lovely, but the earrings are more vibrant and have a touch of coral color. Not the delicate pink on the website. This is no problem for me. I’ll wear them with my coral pieces and also with my more orangey pinks.

Our heroine might add a black and white Jackson Pollock scarf, two quality belts (one black, one pink) and the above-mentioned white tee. The pleated skirt, with the black tank top and either belt, looks like a dress! Yess, she can make it casual with the high tops! I can see pink with grey, navy or brown neutrals. (With different scarves)
The scarf designer has a well-developed sense of irony. It’s actually funny, in a dark sense. And the scarf is pretty & sophisticated.

I like the youthful shant to this wardrobe. I was surprised at how much I like the sweatshirt with skirt outfit. I am puzzled about how one would wear a scarf with a hooded sweatshirt though. I think the sleeves of the dress would cause bulk issues under the lightweight cardigan. I wear lightweight cardigans in the summer when I go into stores which are often too cold. Even the sleeves of a camp shirt can cause bulk issues.
I really like the range of pinks in the scarf and the painterly look to them. Personally I would limit the white to either polka dots or stripes or both.
Amy in Indy says
For the sweatshirt, maybe she could wear the scarf tied as a headband (if the hood is down). Or shove the sleeves of the sweatshirt up and wear the scarf as a bracelet?

Janice did a fun post quite a while back that shows a gentleman with a hoodie and a scarf tied more tightly around his neck. It’s a great look!
I do love the pink (although with navy) There are some really fun looks here!!

One of the most arresting photographs ever of someone wearing a scarf – truly game-changing for me!

I remember that now that you mention it.
And thank you Janice for the link.

I too like the long skirt, hoodie and combat boots outfit! In a weird way, as I never wear skirts. On another note, Lands’ End starts their massive Memorial Day sale today. I am going to exercise discipline and stock up on summer basics.

I love the scarf – the color and the irony are just my thing. I actually own much that is similar in this wardrobe, thought I could use a good black linen dress. I would add hot pink jeans, a pink or pink/black/white print tee and a black cardigan. Also black flats or walling sandals, depending on season, and a black tote. More inspiration for my upcoming summer trips.

Had to look closely for the profanity…Honey (blanking) Dijon is a clothing line. As for the capsule…just need a few first layer tops in solids or by introducing some prints. When I first saw the scarf, I saw a lighter olive green as another accent but tan would also work.
Janice says
There are at least two subtle colors in the scarf – I really couldn’t isolate them enough to see them clearly, so those are the bonus fun for everyone who buys this scarf and get it in hand to study closely. That’s one of the fun things about scarves…

I love the pieces in this wardrobe and the whole slightly irreverent vibe of it. I’ll have to think how I can reinterpret this in my colors…

Although I’m not wild about the scarf, I do like black and pink together. My top picks would be Outfit #1 and Outfit #3 because I”m just a more casual type of person. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

I am really liking the pinks. I have a small group of pinks to wear with my otherwise blue and white wardrobe. The casual vibe of this wardrobe is right down my alley! Another hit, Janice! Thank you and enjoy the holiday weekend.

I love the sly cheekiness of this scarf with this quite conservative but quirky travel capsule. The whole ensemble makes me feel happy!
Twylt3 says
Love black, pink and white together. Would simply add a couple of white tops and perhaps a pink and white and black and white print top.
Amy in Indy says
Super cute wardrobe. I see a woman with a dark (or white) choppy haircut that has big streaks of pink in it. It has that kind of vibe.
Pharmacist in Hoquiam says
For me, this is the perfect start for an all year wardrobe.
Like several of the other posters I would add in some black/pink/white, T-shirts, a couple of cardigans in black/pink/white.
I already own several pairs of black pants, white linen pants for the summer. This just seems like my perfect wardrobe. (Adding in purple 💜 would be delicious).
I I am going to continue with this year’s wardrobe of the month, Georgia O’Keefe ‘The Red Maple”. But I can definitely see where I’m going next year!
Thank you Janice

Personally, I’m not offended at all, but I’m also not a fan of the scarf. The colors, however, are just yummy. What would you suggest for someone, like me, who does *not* wear hoodies ever?
Janice says
A sweater; nobody has to wear ANYTHING that they don’t like, or that doesn’t feel right to them…
hugs,
Janice

Late to comment, but I’ve loved pink and black since I was a teenager. All shades of pink from Baby to Electric.
