At least in the US – you can make it a holiday wherever you live…
I took Christmas Day OFF – we didn’t do anything at all constructive!
But the downside of this is that I don’t have my normal Wednesday post ready for you… It will be here tomorrow!
love,
Janice

So glad you had a well deserved day off. The fruitcake is adorable!
VB from NC says
Haha. My husband loves fruitcake and sticks up on it every year. Maybe you could make a capsule of it. Hmmm.

Love gumdrop cake around here. That could inspire a fun wardrobe!

I love the humour involved in the fruitcake (a.k.a. the cake I never eat) graphic!
Please go east on yourself over the holidays!

I enjoyed that mystery heroine! A complex set of colours for a complex lady.

Actually had a slice of fruitcake yesterday! It was delicious! And we went to “Boys in the Boat”, since we live in Seattle. Read the book years ago and loved it.
SewLibrarian says
Ha! I make fruitcake almost every year ! My recipe came originally from a 1950’s article in one of the Chicago newspapers, the Chicago Daily News, I believe. It’s basically a pound cake with fruit and nuts, and it’s delicious! But I agree that there are many not-so-good fruitcakes available.

Can you give me the recipe? I love fruit cake.
Thank you.

Happy Holidays, Vivienne!
I look forward to every one of your emails. I drool at each cup capsule set. I have even bought some items because them. Sadly, I don’t like fruitcake, but I still admire the capsule set. I base everything off of black leggings and a black top. Do you have capsule sets that start with black?

Janice says
Look under Articles, then under Archives by Categories and Tags, and look for black! Long-time readers here can assure you that I ALWAYS have black clothes in the mix!

Janice

Thank you, Janice!!! :-)

I make rich fruitcake in November for Christmas. Plenty of dried fruit, nuts, spices, sherry and brandy. The longer you ‘keep’ a rich fruit cake, the better it is. It is delicious and even better with a chunk of Wensleydale cheese!
SewLibrarian says
Beth T, I would love to taste your fruitcake, especially with the cheese. Holiday greetings to you.
Vicki from New Zealand says
Yes, we were still eating last year’s Christmas fruitcake in April. It just gets better.
Wendy says
Awww, Beth, reading your comment about Wensleydale cheese paired with fruitcake instantly reminded me of the James Herriot books which first introduced me to the concept.

Yay for the cute fruitcake! I found an orphaned fruitcake in the bakery yesterday and raced home to enjoy a slice with a glass of Cabernet. I guess I’m one of a dying breed.

I ordered my siblings each a fruitcake from the monks at Gethsamane in Kentucky last year and they all loved it. Made with bourbon of course.
