Let’s do this again, only differently!
Some different accent colors, and navy as our neutral!
She doesn’t make it up to the lake EVERY weekend of the warm weather, but she is probably there at least 2 out of 3…
For no good reason she can offer to anyone, she wants to wear navy this weekend!
This wardrobe is exactly the same size as her wardrobe from Monday, but it’s also entirely different! What fun…
If you like blue, this should be appealing:
As with her earlier weekend wardrobe, our heroine has plenty of options for a 3 day break…
Eventually, our heroine is going to take a couple of weeks off; maybe combining her 2 “long weekend” wardrobes will work for that?
We shall find out!
love,
Janice
p.s. Six years ago, we chose navy and grey items to assemble a classic capsule wardrobe…

I really like both of these 2 versions with the bold scarf. My level of casual and dressiness.
The Keds!!! But I think going to the lake back east or in the Midwest is different than my experience of going to the lake in Montana or even here in Texas. We wear Jean shorts and t shirts. Nothing nice because it could just get ruined in two shakes. Camping versus lake house makes for a very different experience. But these could be my everyday, in the burbs, wardrobe!

My thoughts exactly. These two, with a couple of slight color variations, could easily be my summer wardrobe too.

That was my first thought, too. Great wardrobe but way too fancy for what I think of as a lake weekend (and I’m in Midwest). That small blue purse is probably nicer than what I’d take to the office or church! But still, all very nice.

Pack this up and head out. Perfect for me.

I love this scarf, but am wondering if it could work with a warm neutral, like olive or rust? White and navy are not my colors, although both wardrobes are beautiful. I always have trouble working with traditional spring and summer colors. As ever, I am enjoying the inspiration pieces you select for your wardrobe collections!

Now this I love! Perfect fo my summer wardrobe. Oh the accessories! I love them all, especially those navy flower earrings and the sneakers!
I’m prepping for a week-long trip to London in mid-May (alas, I will miss the crowning of the king), and I know the weather will be different from my warm Southeast. I would love to see a wardrobe for that, or please direct me to one that already exists.

I absolutely love these colour combinations though living in Ireland my wardrobe has no shorts as weather is much colder and wintery. However navy is my go to colour with bright colour tops and jackets. Love the blues and colour blouse and bright greens.
Scarf is magnificent. Thank you
Mairéad

You know, even with the navy – which is my preferred neutral – I’m just not feeling this. I can’t figure out why. Those flower earrings are really amazing though. Love them. This looks like a wardrobe I should love. oh well. At least I won’t be pining over anything (with the possible exception of those earrings). Cheers!

I really like the blues here, I think I would amp up the green though instead of so much blue, or just in addition to it, to make the wardrobe bigger. It might be a hard color to find right now though. These are actually the colors I have been contemplating for summer. If so, I have some sewing to finish… the blue/green tank has been cut out for a year waiting to get sewn up! But I have all the navy pieces, so I’m getting there. :)

Love both these versions! Especially love the scarf and the Keds!! Thank you Mairead for the input about Ireland. We are traveling in Ireland and Scotland from mid May to mid June and I’m starting to plan the wardrobe now thanks to you shorts or skorts are not an option.

I love navy and blue with floral prints, so this is right up my alley. The floral shirt and Keds are really cute. I like seeing the lighter blues with the navy – the ability to blend blues in an outfit makes for a less stark color palette than navy-based ones often have. (I love an optic navy-based wardrobe but it’s not for every person or every occasion.) I would ideally like one of the blue Ts to coordinate well with the blue cardigan, but for a 3 day trip, it’s not crucial. The linen shirtdress is really nice and would make a good duster if worn open over something else (those sleeves are the kind that make me have to control myself not to say “but will that really layer nicely under that cardigan?” every single time we see them, which is pretty often lately – I think J. Crew must be committed to that style this season).
What’s surprising to me is that I don’t love the inspiration scarf with the wardrobe particularly…I can’t pinpoint if it’s the colors, the style, or both. Maybe it just feels a bit bright and high contrast against the blended blue clothing. It’ll be interesting to see how I like it when the two long weekend wardrobes are combined!
I agree with others that it feels more like a normal wardrobe than a lake house weekend wardrobe, but perhaps if I put the emphasis on “house” and not on “lake,” I can squint and see it. Maybe she just goes for the atmosphere and the company, not to engage in a lot of swimming, boating, fishing, etc. that requires different gear. In any base, this is a versatile summer wardrobe that could work across many different 3 day weekends (or as part of one’s overall summer capsule).

Love this, have just packed something very similar, as we are off on a car trip to the Kootenies in British Columbia and then up to Edmonton in Alberta. Three blue bottoms, five long sleeve tops and three tank tops, two pullovers, one navy dress too. All following your suggestions over the last seven years. Finally three bright silk scarves, don’t forget them. Thank you for all your suggestions they sure have helped me pack less.
Yes! We are having funny weather too. Hale in April when all my daffodils and tulips are out, poor plants. Sunny weather coming at last next week for our trip.

For the past few years I’ve transitioned from black to navy as a is my go to summer palette so I loved this post! I NEEDED something with a pop of color and the flowered blouse is perfect. Imagine my surprise and delight when I clicked on the link to see it was from Ralph Lauren, one of my faves! I investigated a bit online and found it in plus size AND on sale at Belk.com. Thank you so much for all of your hard work on your fabulous blog!

Love seeing the navy as the base – that’s how I dress! Though maybe not the wildly-printed shirt :)
I’m wearing a lot of what I call cornflower blue with my navy this year. It seems to be having a retail moment.

Janice, I’m really enjoying these. They remind me of the Fleurs do Provence series you did several years ago.
