We had a quiet week, with 1 appointment out of the apartment. Snow on Thursday meant that we all stayed tucked up for a couple of days…
I made a deliberate effort to wear the same general look, and the same pants. More and more I find that I’m VERY comfortable wearing the same small assortment of clothing.
Life is complicated enough, without wardrobe angst!
love,
Janice

Bravo, that just about sums up my winter wardrobe here in Canberra (Australia). Which is shaping up to be another very cold one. Meanwhile I’ll enjoy the sudden hot spell

Morning Janice, and everyone, I just want to thank you again for sharing with us. I have to say I am really liking the simplicity of your wardrobe. And since it is the “real” wardrobe of someone for their “real” life it points out to me that certainly it’s achievable. Have a good rest of the day!

Good morning! I’m like you Janice in that I’ve been wearing the same items over and over again. I don’t mind it at all and find it very easy to do. I may not be the most fashion forward woman but I don’t care what anybody else thinks! I’m happy.
Ann says
Haha – should I be embarrassed to love this so much?

Having just a few lovely clothes and beautiful accessories makes me calm and very happy. Janice, you have really influenced my packing plan for a 3 week vacation in Spain. I am taking just 3 bottoms, black jeans, dark wash blue jeans and cosy black leggings, 4 long sleeve tees, 4 short sleeve tees and 2 cardigans, all solid colours. My accessories will be beautiful scarves that coordinate with everything. I know that I will look well dressed with very little effort. Thanks so much!

I enjoy seeing these weekly capsules even though they are basically the polar opposite of how I dress! It’s interesting how for some, a small capsule with an extremely narrow neutral palette, feels calming and provides a desired simplicity…and others of us would feel anxious and depressed dressing this way. In winter especially, my brain thinks the world looks bleak enough without dressing that way too…I need color and print and energy in my outfits to elevate my mood (aka dopamine dressing). Also glad to see the 4 Objects shirts in the mix! I remember thinking that a $245 shirt better get worn A LOT to be worth the money. This is precisely the kind of purchase that can make sense in a small, minimalist wardrobe but would be a waste in mine.

Sally, I am just the opposite. I am fascinated with these little sets because they are minimalist and mostly neutral. To me that’s calm and comfortable. These WOWs are also inspiring me to focus more on quality. That is one of my goals, and I can see how well it works in a real life situation.
This is a day late…
Thanks to Janice for sharing these.

I’m with you Sally. Especially in winter, I’d feel very dull and drab without my colors and print mixing. It just makes me happy to open my closet and see my things in all my favorite colors!

Hi Janice – life is complicated, and simple helps me relax!
What are you thoughts on the “4” blazer? I assume you love it!
Janice says
I love it. I love everything I’ve received from 4. It’s amazing…
hugs,
Janice

Love these quietly elegant weekly wardrobes. A sense of ease and calm. The reason I fell in love with the Stress Dressing mini capsules. What to wear when life is way too rough and bumpy or “interesting”!

I guess I did miss a post about your loving the 4 items. I would love a little more? Maybe how they’ve worn? Fit? Wash? How long you think they would actually wear if worn very often?
Thank you.

I am a bit behind on reading but your blogs stay useful after a few months! I tend to buy trousers 2 or 3 the same at a time, and a nice blouse in 3 colors that match the trousers. I love not having to think about combinations in the morning!
As soon as the weather gets better it will be dresses. No combination stress then!
