She’s ready for a big change, and she’s going to use this bracelet as her inspiration:
For decades, she’s worn navy with pink, or light blue, or pale yellow… It fit in with her office and her job. But now…
She started with the bracelets, and THEN she saw the coat! She was wearing sneakers with green stripes, so it seemed fated… A divine brooch, the perfect scarf, and some wee earrings were all she needed:
Gradually, she added a few things to her wardrobe, while she held onto her favorite work skirt and pants:
Suddenly, she finds that she’s prepared to present her new color palette at almost any activity in her social life:
She’s excited about the options of soft lavender or deep, thrilling emerald…
I have a long black velvet duster coat that I SHOULD wear more often – there’s no reason that I can’t swish down the street in it on the way to Physical Therapy, is there?
love,
Janice
p.s. Three years ago (approximately) we celebrated another purple and green bracelet – for Mardi Gras!

My colors!!!! Love this! Those scarves are fabulous.

I’m thinking this is a woman who does not mind standing out in a crowd!

These are my colors! I’d like to see this heroine in a more casual, spring/summer wardrobe too. And yes, Janice, wear that black velvet coat to PT. Enjoy it!

Lovely colours that you don’t see all the time. I’m currently really enjoying both deep green and shades of lavender so this is right up my alley.
I echo the wish to see this heroine revisited in a few months’ time.

I love purple and green, though I would pick a deeper shade of violet for me. The dark greens are heavenly, and that dot print velvet tunic is amazing. Of course, even if it were available in my size, velvet is almost never right for South Florida.
Does anyone remember that back in the Dress for Success days, purple and green were considered untrustworthy colors for business attire?
Sheila says
I remember Dress for Success all too well, but not the color part! More about wearing gray, and navy, white blouses and the little scarf tie…. I recently found an old head shot my investment firm had taken of me during that time period.. wow. How things have changed.

Ever since living my High School & part of my college years in Germany I have loved the deep purple & emerald green color combination in clothing!! This is more common there than here in dress clothing which is where I first saw these colors together!!
Sally in St Paul says
This is a very nice social event capsule for someone with a much dressier social life than mine! Holding onto a navy blazer that coordinates with her navy separates would be helpful, and I hope she has a pair of jeans in her closet that she can pop into her outfits as needed.
I’m glad it was established that the duster was a coat because it looks like a bathrobe to me! Even knowing it’s a coat, it still looks like a bathrobe :D
April says
I thought the coat looked like a bathrobe too! And living in Houston it would not be a good choice for here. But I do have a velvet hoodie I like to wear in the short winters that we have.

Such beautiful colors. With gold jewelry Mardi Gras is covered! I think dusters are fabulous! I have linen knit ones, cotton, one in Tencil and a very old canvas one. My most recent is a black oilcloth with a distinctly western vibe. It is much more my style than a trench coat which “everyone must have” in their wardrobe. I absolutely love it!! Janice says there are no rules! So yes wear the velvet one to pt.
Janice says
Every capsule wardrobe that I look at online or on Instagram seems to include the SAME trench coat. And I look like a sausage with a rubber band around it in a belted trench! So I avoid them like the plague…

Janice

I love this one, although I liked Monday’s a bit better. But all my colors, wow! I ordered the tank and the Met scarf from Monday’s post. Thanks Janice!

Marvellous! I like to wear purple with teal green and lilac with teal.blue. The accessories give a touch of luxury to the clothes. That velvet coat 😍🤩. I’d love to have a purple or plum velvet coat.

My colours, again! I love the luxe fabrics of these items. While I agree with Sally in St. Paul about the bathrobe I would still wear it, to PT or to any of my other medical appointments which seem to be the only places I go these days. Am seriously considering the Transformational Lynx bracelets. While I don’t wear scarves I do wear bracelets.

Love the green. I think I could with just a few white/ivory/stone pieces and dark blue jeans, easily live in only green. And yes that coat has a striking resemblence to my dark green velour robe…so much so that I looked to make sure it wasn’t. Not crazy for the lilac for me, but it does make the green pop. As for coats, my fav is a 50s swing coat my mom made 20 yrs ago that fits just right. Fitted at the shoulders with just the right amount of extra fabric to swirl without looking either sausage like or enveloped in a blanket. We all have different shapes, so why do the designers, editors, etc assume that we should be lemmings wearing identical items? Ooh…makes me crazy.
Janice says
I remember a book or story from my childhood – 55 years ago at least – in which there was a character (possibly a teacher?) named Mrs. Moss, who wore ONLY green. I’ve looked for it for so long that I think I may have imagined it. Could you picture me imagining a book with complete character wardrobes?
hugs,
Janice

Here’s a real life story where a woman only wears blue. There are recent updates and she’s still at it. Honestly, very appealing to me, as I love blue.

Oh! There’s a lady who wears all green at the end of the article. But not Emerald.

I have a satin blouse in a deep teal that always makes me feel like a million bucks. The thing I love about satin is that the colors ripple and flow so it’s not too stark against my soft autumn skin. The same color in a solid cotton garnet would make me look ghastly. I call that teal/emerald/sapphire color peacock.
